November 23, 1964
A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday,
November 23, 1964 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes
of the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were
approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers.

The time now being after 10:00 A.M..it was so announced and sealed bids
viere opened for one four door sedan for the use of the Police Depart-
ment., Proofs of Publication from the South Bend Tribune with affidavit
signed by Robert DeLong and the Tri-Co-Lmty Nevis with affidavit
signed by Alfred W. Snyder, II were found sufficient.

AWARDING BID: POLICE DEPARTMENT SEDAN
It a]Tearing that the bid of Feferman. Motor Sales is the lowest and
best bid., it is now so awarded to Feferman Motor Sales providing the
bid meets specifications.
BUILDING DEEA=ENT - SUB -STANDARD DIV. . (HEARING)
Comes now John Grabarz with reference to property owned by Roland Grant
and located at 1629 Linden Avenue.
Comes also Roland Grant to shoe cause why root beer barrel has not
been removed from the rear of his premises.
Mr. Grant advised the Board that he had no place to move the root beer
barrell stand and that he would like to keep the stand for future use,
if he needed it.
After hearing Mr. Grant that the stand constituted a nuisance and that
residents in the area had complained about the condition of the stand
and, further, that this Board had no recourse except to order the stand
moved from the property.
At the -request of Mr. Grant, the Board granted him two weeks in Which
to find a new location for the stand where it would not be objectionable.
If this is not accomplished, the stand will be demolished.

John Grabarz informed the Board that Mr. Hutchins had made arrangements
and had contract to tear down house located at 1104 S. Ironwood Drivek.

Following examination by the Electrical Department and the City Controller
as to the availability of funds, the Board approved the increase of
street light wattage in the Bader, Coquillard Drive, Greenlavm, Esther
Street, Madison Street area for an increase from 92 watt to 295 watt
street lights.

A Petition from residents of the area for a street light on the existing
pole at the northwest corner of Jefferson Boulevard and Ironwood Drive
for pedestrian safey,. especially Nons and school children crossing
Ironwood Drive.
The Petition was referred to the Electrical Department for investiga-
tion and recommendation.
REQUEST: CHILD EVANGELISM FELLOVISHIP ( PARK _BUSSES_ FOR _ABLE CLASSES )
A request from Richard H. Damon of Child Evangelism Fell(niship of St.
Joseph County to park busses or trailers on street for the time it takes
to hold Bible Classes for children who are released from school once a
week for such classes was referred to the Traffic Engineer for investiga-
tion and recommendation.
SPECIAL POLICE CQ+11ISSION ( STEELE )
A Special Police Commission for Dorothy A. Steele, Special Police nou
employed by Wyman's was approved by the Board, pending approval of
Bond.
STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS
Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting
was adjourned at 10:55 A.M.
