HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/09/64 Board of Public Works MinutesNovember 9, 1964 A regular meeting of the Board of^Public Safety was held on Monday, November 9, 1964 at 10:00 A.A. All members were present. Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and approved. No vouchers were approved for payment. BM VERTI • POLICE SEDAN } The Board, having been informed that neither of the bids received for the Police Department four door sedan opened at the November 2, 1964 Board meeting met specifications, both bids are hereby rejected and the Clerk of the Board directed to readvertse for one four -door sedan for use of the Police Department. Advertisements will be placed in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News on November 13 and November 20, 1964. Sealed bids will be opened on November 23, 1964 at 10:00 A.M. P T O• ELECTRICAL DIEPARTMENJS LTG A Petition from residents of the area requesting a street light on Notre Dame Avenue between Jefferson and Wayne, east side, middle of the block was submitted to the Board, accepted and referred to the Electrical Department for investigation and recommendation. PETITION_: 2AUIC E G TRAFFIC SIG A Petition from residents of the area for a four way stop sign at the corner of Meade and Ford Streets was accepted by the Board and referred to the Traffic Engineer for investigation and recommendation, Still -STANDARD DIVISION i IJMING } Comes now John Grabarz with reference to property located at 506 27th Street which property had been ordered demolished and Mr. Grabarz directed to advertise for bids for demolition due to the fact that the property had not been brought up to code. Mr. Grabarz advised the Board that Mr. Cook, owner of property, had advised that he was selling property and that the new owner had I romised to take care of necessary repairs and that Mr. Cook had requested that this order for bids be rescinded. Mr. Cook appeared before the Board and advised the Board that the back section of this property had been torn down. He further stated that the new owner had already hired a contractot to do the repairs. He requested a 30 day continuance in order to get the work completed. The Board granted this request and directed Mr. Grabarz to check the property on progress. APPLI MIONS: POLICE DEPARTMENT The following applications for the Police Department were accepted and ordered placed on file: Ronald Michael. Golba and Michael Clement Borkowski. SPECIQ POLICE BOND A Special Police Bond for Special Police Officer Andrew S. Konya, presently employed by Torrington Company was approved and ordered placed on file. 44 BUIIDING DEPARTIELT MaIlLY REPMT A report for the month of October from the Building Department was accepted and ordered placed on file. SST LIGHT- PZAg,REP0RTS Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file. There being no further business to come before.the. Board, the meeting was adjourned at 10;50 A.M. _.
