A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday,
October 26, 1964 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes
of the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were
approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers.
BUILDING DEPARMUT; HOUSE MOVE
Comes now Forrest West, Building Commissioner,,and requests permission
to move a house from 602 Klinger Street to 130 S. Liberty Street. The
owner of the house is Willis C. Divine and the mover is Lewis Mitschelen.
Mr. West advised the Board that all Code provisions had been met
and that all interested parties had been notified.
There being no remonstrators and no written remonstrances having
been filed with the Board, the house move is approved as requested,
=-STANDARD DIVISION: BURING
Comes now John. Grabarz; Supervisor of theSub-Standard Division. of
x the Building Department, with a progress -report on property located
at 2010 S. Michigan -Street.

Mr. Grabarz reported that Paul Schwertley, attorney representing the
owners of subject property, had advised him that the prospective owner
.had earnest money on the property and that in two weeks time the sale
would be completed. According to Mr. Schwertley, the new owner will
tear down the building.
SUB -STANDARD DIVISION: OPEN BIDS DEMOLITION
John Grabarz submitted sealed bids to the Board for demolition of=.:a
structure located at 915 S. Carroll Street.
The following bids were received:
A & J Demolition
318 N. O'Brien St.
South Bend, Indiana
Chas, Clou&h Demolition
25412 State Road #2
South Bend, Ind.
$860.00 Retain salvage
875.00 Stack salvage
$440.00 Retain salvage
500.00 Stack salvage
Since both bids are in order, and it appearing that the bid of Chas,: Clough
Demolition is the lowest and best bid, it is now so awarded to Chas,Clough
Demolition.
John Grabarz submitted sealed bids for the demolition of a structure
located at 715 S. Fellows St.
The following bids were received:
A & D Demolition $450.00 Retain salvage
318 N. O'Brien St. 465.00 Stack -.salvage
South Bend, Ind.
Chas. Clough $140.00 Retain salvage
25412 State Road #2 175.00 Stack salvage
South Bend, Inc.
Since both bids were in order, and it appearing that the bid of
Chas. Clough is the lowest and best bid, it is now so awarded to Chas.
Clough.
TRAFFIC MG_INEER: IHUAL jd&TION (TRAFFIC SIM
Following the recommendation of Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, the
following installation was approved-.
Stop Sign installed on Topsfield, northeast corner; at Ironwood Drive.
ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT-1- INSTALLATION,
Following the recommendation of Eugene Radecki, Electrical Department
superintendent, the following installations were approved:
3 4000 lumen lights installed in Woodhill Lane area - one light:'at
northwest corner of Idlewood and Woodhill Lane., one at 205 Woodhill
Lane, center of block and one at southwest corner of Bellwood and
Woodhill Lane.
REQUESTS FOR STREET LIGHTS
A request from Place & Company for the installation of street lights
in Scottsdale Addition,,2nd and last entrance to -the Addition was
referred to the Electrical Department for investigation and recommeandation.
A Petition from residents of Angela Boulelard for a light in the alley
of the 500 block of,West Angela was submitted -:to -the Board and referred
to the Electrical Department for investigation astothe l6cati6n.-bf
thp--UleY and to report back to the Board his recommendation.
A Petition from Councilman Szymkowiak from members of St. Stanislaus
Roman Catholic Church for the installation of a street light across
the street from the parish rectory at 415 N. Brookfield St.
All the above requests were referred to the Electrical Department.
STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS
Street Light Outage Reports were accepted.: and ordered plated on -.file -
POLICE DEPARVELT RETIREMENT DER - L&_
Upon his request, Det. Sgt. R. E. Bauer will go on retirement from
the Police Department, effective November 9, 1964 after 2' years of
service in this Department.'
The Board approved the request as written.
MDV_MY REPORT: POLICE DEPARTMENT
A Report from the Police Department for the month of September, 1964
was accepted by the Board and ordered placed on file.
SPECIAL POLICE BOND
A Special Police Bond for Russell Jester was approved by the,Board
and ordered filed with his Special Polico.'Commission.
APPLICATION: FIRE DEPARTMENT
An application for the Fire Department from Dennis Frank Foldest was
accepted and ordered placed on file.
CERTIFICATE OF INt-MANCE ( RADIO & FURNITURE MART, INC. ) .
A Certificate of Insurance from the Radio & Furniture.Uart, Ine, for
permanent Canopy in front of the store at 919-923 S. Michigan Street
was filed with the Board and accepted by the Board and ordered filed
in the office of the Board,
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting
was adJourned at 11:00 A.M.
