S.:Andrysiak and James A. Bickel were present. Vouchers were.approved -and-ordered paid to the various suppliers. OPENING OF BIDS: PUMPER ( FIRE DEPARTMENT The= time nbw being' -'after` 10:00' A.M. Bud Johnson The bids will be examined and taken under advisement. If possible, bid will be awarded in two weeks. 340 PERMISSION TO ATTEND WORKSHOP ( FIRE DEPARTMENT - LEDERER ) Upon the recommendation of Fire Chief McHenry, permission was granted Lt. Carl Lederer to attend the Radiological Monitor Instructor Workshop on April to 8, 1964 in Battle Creek, Michigan. BUILDING DEPARTMENT: HOUSE MOVE Comes now Forrest R. West, Building Commissioner, and requests permission to move a house from 945 Louise Street to 321 S. Notre Dame Avenue. Mr. West submitted copies of letters to property owners interested in such move, advising them of the proposed move and inviting them to attend this hearing to present their views or pertinent facts in connection with the proposed move. Mr. West also informed the Board that zoning had been complied with and check had also made made by the Fire Department. Mr. Vurpillat is the owner of the building to be moved. Since no remonstrators appeared and since all provisions with respect to house moves appear to have been complied with, the proposed move was approved. BUILDING DEPARTMENT: SUBSTANDARD DIVISION ( HEARINGS ) Comes now John Grabarz, of the Sub -Standard Division of the Building Department, with reference to property located at 1030 Talbot Street. Also present was Mr. Ramsey, a realtor with Associated Real Estate Company-; which concern is attempting to sell this property which is part of an estate. Mr. Ramsey requested a continuance of 60 days to allow time to sell property and/or repair. After hearing Mr. Ramsey, the Board ruled that an extension of 60 days will be granted; that the last 15 days will be allowed for repair of the property. If the property is sold, it will be fully understood that repairs must be made before the expiration of the 60 day period. If this is not done, property will be demolished. Comes now Mrs. Barbara Fulce, niece of Mrs. Carrie Ford, owner of property located at 1610 Longley with a progress report on this subject. Mrs. Fulce advised the Board that Mrs. Ford who is very elderly, refuses to sell property at a fair price. Mrs. Fulce also advised the Board that she had retained an attorney, Mr. Edward Mincaeski, but Mrs. Ford refused to accept advise of counsel concerning this property. After hearing all who wished to be heard, the Board ruled that this hearing be continued for two weeks in an attempt to work out an agreement with Mrs. Ford for the disposition of this property. If agreement is -not reached',; demolition will be ordered. BIDS• DEMOLITION Comes now John Grabarz and submits two bids to the Board for the demolition of property located at 123 S. Illinois Street, owned by Mrs. Adella young but now a Purchased by Auditor property. Bill Torok -.-Trucking Service $250.00 and retain salvage 54195 N. Burdette Road, 300.00 and stack material South Bend, Indiana 1 A & J Demolition 318 O'Brien St. South Bend, Ind. $260.00 and retain salvage 275.00 and stack material Since it appears that Bill Torok Trucking Service has the lowest and best bid, the bid is now awarded to Bill Torok Trucking Service. INSTALLATIONS: STREET LIGHTS ( ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT ) The following installations for street lights were approved, follow- ing the recommendation of Eugene Radecki, Superintendent of the Electrical Department and after thorough investigation of the Petitions for such lights: 1. A 4000 lumen street light at 1102 Roosevelt Street. 2. A 4000 lumen street light at west end of Peachtree Lane. PETITIONDENIED: STREET LIGHT ( ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT ) After thorough investigation and recommendation by Eugene Radecki) Superintendent of the Electrical Department, a Petition from Mrs. C,.` J. Vargo and others for the installation of a street light at 2200 block of North Elmer Street was denied. Mr. Radecki advised the Board, in his report, that a street .light installed at the location requested would not benefit property owners since there are no homes in this area at the present time. Mr. Radecki informed the Board that a 4000 lumen light installed at 2200 N. Elmer S;t.::.would 'relieve _ presen-F dark. condition. The matter was taken under advisement and, for the present, the Petition was ordered placed on file. STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file. APPLICATION: ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT An application for the Electrical Department from George Anthony Miller was accepted and ordered placed on file. TRAFFIC ENGINEER: TRAFFIC SIGNS The following installations were approved by the Board, following the recommendation of Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer: No Parking Sunday Morning signs. installed on south side of St. John's Way in 3500, 3600 and 3700 blocks. APPLICATION: POLICE DEPARTMENT An application for the Police Department from Ronald Joseph Dobosz was accepted by the Board and ordered placed on file. SPECIAL POLICE BOND ( TORRINGTON ) A renewal of a Special Police Bond for Edward T.
