A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday,
March 23, 1964 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of
the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were
approved and ordered paidtothe Various suppliers.
OPENING OF BIDS: POLICE DEPARTMENT ( 15 CARS )
The time being after 10:00 A.M. it was so announced and bids for
14 Four Door Sedans and l Four Door Station Wagon were opened and
read aloud. Proofs of Publication from The Tri-County News with
affidavit signed by Alfred W. Snyder, II and The South Bend Tribune
with affidavit signed by Robert DeLong were found sufficient.

PERMISSION TO ATTEND SCHOOL ( POLICE DEPARTMENT )
Permission was given to Sgt. Frank Arsenault, at the redommendation
of Police Chief Hampton, to attend the Backster School of Lie Detection
during the period of April 6, 1964 to May 159 1964.
APPLICATION: POLICE DEPARTMENT
an application for the Police Department from William Henry Crittendon
was accepted and ordered placed on file.
BUILDING DEPARTMENT: CHANGE IN REPRESENTATION AT SCHOOL
Comes now Mr. Forrest West, Building Commissioner, and requests permission
to send Mr. Morgan Peck of the Building -Department to the Annual School
of Indiana Inspector O Association at Purdue University and to send Mr.
Harry Leslie of the Building Department to the Conference instead of
Mr. Homer Ellinger.
Permission granted.

BUILDING DEPARTMENT REPRESENTATION ( PLANNING CONFERENCE )
Permission was granted to Mr. Forrest R. West, Building Commissioner,
to attend the American Society of Planning Officials Conference in
Boston, Mass., from April 5_to April 9, 1964 as designated representative
for the Board of Works and Safety on the South Bend Plan Commission."
BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION (, HEARING )
Comes now John Grabarz, Director of the Sub -Standard iivision of
the Building Department and advises the Board that this was the date
set for hearing on property located at 1610 Longley Avenue, owned by
Jefferson and Carrie Ford. This date had been set as the deadline
for sale of this property.
Mr. Grabarz advised the Board that the owners requested an additional
week to allow time for them to discuss matter with their attorney.
Case continued for one week.
BOARD OF HEALTH REPRESENTATIVE
Mr. Stephen Molnar of the Health Department attended the meeting as
arepresentative of that Department.
STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS
Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file.
WEIGHTS & MEASURES REPORT
A Report for the month of February, 1964 from the Weights & Measures
Department was accepted and ordered placed on file.
There -being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting
was adjourned at 11:55 A.M.
