A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday,
March 16, 1964 at 10:00 A.M. Messrs. R. S. Andrysiak-and-James A.
Bickel were present. Minutes of the last regular meeting were read
and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various
suppliers.
PETITIONS: STREET LIGHTS ( ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT )
The following Petitions requesting the installation of street lights
were examined by the Board and referred to the Electrical Department
for investigation and recommendation:
1. A Petition from residents of Peachtree Lane for installation of
a street light at the west end of Peachtree Lane at the Circle.
2. A Petition from Mrs. C. J. Vargo and others in the area for the

installation of a street light in the 2200 block of North Elmer

Street between Pershing Street and Lathrop Road.
STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS
Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file.
TRAFFIC ENGINEER TRAFFIC SIGNS )
Following the recommendation of Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, the
following installations were approved:
No Parking signs installed on north side of South Street from Prairie
to Scott Streets.
No Parking signs installed on south side of 100 E. Bowman Street, from
alley to first drive west of alley.
Time limit signs installed at 2920 Western avenue.
Time limit signs installed at 435 S. Eddy Street.
BUILDING DEPARTMENT:- HOUSE MOVES, -
Comes now Forrest R. West, Building Commissioner, and requests the
Board's permission to move two houses, as follows:
1. From 533 S. Eddy Street to 221 S. Logan Street
2. From 543 S. Eddy Street to 337 S. Logan Street.
The owner and mover of both houses is J. Mitschelen.
Mr. West informed the Board that the property owner in the block had
been notified and a signed copy of notification has been received by
the Building Department.
Since no remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrances were
received by the Board, the house moves were approved.
ATTEND SCHOOL ( BUILDING DEPARTMENT
Forrest R. West, Building Commissioner, requested permission of the
Board to send the following employees to the Annual School of the
Indiana Inspectors' Association, at Purdue University, on April 6
and 7, 1964:

John Grabarz, Jr.
Charles Sandor
Elwyn,Fienhold
Homer Ellinger
Betty Burch
Electrical Inspection Dept.,
Lee Klingebiel
Mr. West advised the Board that Mrs. Burch is
the Indiana Inspector's Association and her
by the Association.

BUIL DING DEPARTMENT: SUB -STANDARD DIVISION ( HEARINGS )
Comes now Mr. Mr. Otto Pozgay, owner of property located at 1302 S.
Chapin Street and requests additional time to repair the house on
this.,site,., ,Mr. Pozgay advised the Board that he had a buyer.for
this property, Mr. Jack Chambers of 5012 g. Chaffin Street, Box 1151,
who was also present at the meeting.
Mr. Pozgay-.also advised the Board that, as :far',as he knew at this time,
the sale would be effected in approximately 30 days and that Mr. Chambers
was willing to bring house up to standard and knew what repairs had to
be made to_accomplish this.
Mr. Pozgay advised the Board that he intended to remove a lean-to
kitchen and cleanup the yard and board up broken windows and asked
for four months continuance to bring this property up to standard.
The .Board, after hearing Mr. Pozgay and Mr. Chambers and also Mr.
Grabarz who agreed that property could be saved if sufficient funds
would be invested in this work, continued the hearing until July 13,
1964.
The Board further ruled that Mr. Grabarz work out a reasonable progress
schedule approved by both Mr. Pozgay and Mr. Chambers and report to
the Board as to progress in this repair work every two weeks.
Comes now Mr. Grabarz and advises the Board that property formerly owned by
Mrs. Adelle Young, located at 123 S. Illinois Street is now a Purchased
by Auditor property and of no further interest to Mrs., Young.
Mr. Grabarz requested permission to advertise for demolition bids.
Permission granted.
With reference to property located at 261 N. Chicago Street;, owned..by
Mr. Willis Divine, Mr. Grabarz requested that the Board seta completion
date for repair work on the property.
In accordance with this recommendation, the,Bbard:set April 20, 1964
as the.completion date for repairs on the above described property.
SPECIAL POLICE COMMISSION & BOND
The --Board approved a Special Police Commission and Bond for Robert
R. Henry and ordered same placed on file. i
APPLICATION ( POLICE DEPARTMENT )
An application from Steve Charles Toth for the Police Department
was accepted and ordered placed on file.
FIRE DEPARTMENT: SPECIAL POLICE COMMISSION
A Special Police Commission for Fire Chief Cecil McHenry was approved.
and ordered placed on file.
HEALTH DEPARTMENT REPRESENTATIVE
Mr. Stephen Molnar of the Health Department was present at the meeting.
as a representative of that Department.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting
was adjourned at 11:30 A.M.
