A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday,
February 3, 1964 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of
the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved
and ordered paid to the various suppliers.
PROGRESS REPORT: REPAIR OF RAILROAD CROSSINGS NEW YORK CENTRAL SYSTEM)
Mr. ClemHazinski, Traffic Engineer, reported that he had received a
confirmation from the New York Central Railroad System that the railroad
crossings in need of repair as outlined in a previous report to the Board
would`be repaired in the spring and that the Sample Street crossing has
now been repaired.
PROPOSED MEETING WITH ALL RAILROADS
The Board proposed a`meeting with representatives,of.all railroads to
inform them of the policy of the City concerning upkeep and repairs.
Mr. Clem Hazinski was r.`dquested to make a survey and to arrange for a
meeting as soon as possible after the survey has been completed.
TRAFFIC ENGINEER (,TRAFFIC SIGN INSTALLATIONS
Following the recommendation of Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, the
following installations were approved:
No Parking signs installed on west side of 1200 block of South High
Street.
No Parking signs installed at 502 E. Ewing Avenue.
BUILDING DEPARTMENT: SUB -STANDARD DIVISION ( HEARINGS)
Comes now John Grabarz, Director of the Sub -Standard Division of the
Building Department with Mr. Brinson, prospective buyer for proper:ty..
located at 107 N. Carlisle Street.
Mr. Brinson had received a list of requirements from the Sub -Standard:: -
Division that are necessary to bring property up to standard, and
advised the Board that his contracbor is interested in completing the
work. He asked for one week's continuance to complete details.
The Board requested that Mr. Brinson consider repair costs carefully
and also advised that the contractor would be expected to furnish a
Performance Bond.
.Hearing continued for one week.
BIDS FOR DEMOLITION: SUB -STANDARD DIVISION
The following bids for demolition of property located at 734 Tiar-nock
Street were received:
A & J Demolition Co.
318 O'Brien St. Demolish and retain salvage $290.00
Demolish and stack material 305.00

1829 Randolph St. Demolition and retain salvage $400.00
It appearing that the bid of A & J Demolition Company is the lowest and
best bid, it is now so awarded.
REQUEST FOR REPORT: BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION
BEACON HEIGHTS
John Grabarz of the Sub -Standard Division of the Building Department
was requested to investigate and submit a report on vandalism and
recommendation concerning repairs in Beacon Heights.
PTTTTION: STREET LIGHT ( BROOKFIELD STREET
A Petition for a street light on Brookfield Street between Carroll
and St. Joseph Street was referred to the Electrical Department for
investigation and recommendation.
REQUEST FOR STREET LIGHT L.LGr. PAFFENBACH )
A request from Sgt. E. Paffenbach, School Safety Education Officer,
fora brighter street light at Lincoln Way West and Ryer Street to
make the crossing brighter and assure the safety of the school children
and the school patrol woman who does school traffic at this intersection
was submitted to the Board.
The request was referred to the Electrical Department for investigation
and recommendation.
STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS
Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file.
POLICE DEPARTMENT: RETIREMENT ( DET. SGF. PINTERICS )
Following the approval of Police -Chief Hampton, the Board approved the
retirement of Det. Sgt. F. Pinterics from the Police Department, to
be effective February 16, 1964.
Det. Sgt. Pinterics was appointed to the Department January 6, 1941.
APPLICATION: POLICE DEPARTMENT
An application for the Police Department from Howard E. Warren, Jr.,. -was
accepted and ordered placed on file.
APPLICATION: POLICE AUX. SCHOOL PATROL
An application for the Police Auxiliary School Patrol from Mrs. Pearlie
Roberts was accepted and ordered placed on file.
APPLICATIONS: FIRE DEPARTMENT
The following applications for the Fire Department were accepted and
ordered placed on file: Francis DeBuysser, Charles R. Nance, James C.
Weltman, Louis -Michael Kujawski.
HEALTH DEPARTMENT REPRESENTATIVE
Mr. Stephen Molnar of the St. Joseph Health Department was present at
the meeting as a representative of that Department.
There being no further business to come before the Board,- the meeting
was adjourned at 11:00 A.M.
