HomeMy WebLinkAbout10/07/63 Board of Public Works Minutes23 5 October 7, 1963 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, October 7, 1963 at 10:00 A.M. Messrs. Ray S. Andrysiak and EdW' L. Davies were present. Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. BUILDING DEPARTMENT(BIDS FOR DEMOLITION ) The following bids were received for demolition of structures located at the following addresses: 324 N. Frances Sty A & J Demolition $350.00 Donald F. Grimmius 325.00 tid awarded to Donald F. Grimmius for $325.00. 225 S. Lake St. A & J Demolition $675.00 Donald F. Grimmius 650.00 Bid awarded to Donald F. Grimmius for $650.00. BUILDING DEPARTMENT MONTHLY REPORT ) A Monthly Report for the month of September, 1963 was filed by the Building Department, accepted and ordered filed with the Board records. TRAFFIC ENGINEERD_ATT ND MEETING) Mr. Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, requested permission for him and his assistant to proceed to Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana to attend the Traffic Operators' Conference to be held from October 21, 1963 to and including October 24, 1963. Permission granted. TRAFFIC ENGINEER CLOSE GRAND TR UNK_CROSSING - LOGAN STREET _ Mr. Clem Hazinski, Traffic Eng[ veer, requested permission for the closing of the Grand Trunk Western Railroad crossing on Logan Street for two weeks. Permission granted, subject to instructions by the Traffic Engineer to law enforcements in South Bend, Mishawaka and the County Departments. PETITION: METER BAG REMOVAL - COLFAX &VENUE Mrs. Freda Noble, City Cler, filed a Petition business men to removd the bags from meters on between Michigan and Main Streets immediately game time on football Saturdays. The Petition after game traffic is not heavy and there is n edict. Permission granted. with the Board from West Colfax Avenue after the rush nefore further stipulates that o need for the parking WEIGHTS & MEASURES MONTHLY REPORT_ The Department of Weights & Measures submitted a monthly report for September, 1963 which was accepted and ordered placed on file. PETITION: STREET LIGHT A Petition for a street light on Ribourde Drive and Council Oak Drive from Portage to Corpus Christi Dr_ive_was_referred to the Electrical Department for investig4-tion and recommendation. STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file. SPECIAL POLICE COMMISSION & BOND A Special Police Commission and Bond for Frank J. Wolfinger, employed by the South Bend Tribune was approved and ordered placed on file. SPECIAL POLICE BONDS_ Special Police Bonds for James W. Phillips and Casimir Wadzinski$. both employed by Enro Shirt Company., were approved and ordered placed on file. APPLICATION POLICE DEPARTMENT,_ An application from Roger Alfred Dobecki for the Police Department was accepted and ordered placed on file. BUILDING DEPARTMENT: ERECT CANOPE KEITH PRO U3_C011 The Board granted permission to Keith Proud Company to hang a canope on public property - said canope to be two feet, six inches over sidewalk at 834 Portage Avenue, a store building. The canope will be 54 ft. 3 inches long. The usual insurance coverage is required. There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 11:45 A.M.
