09/16/63 Board of Public Works Minutes
September 16, 1963 A regular meeting of the Board of Safety was held on Monday, Septaber 16, 1963 at 10:00 A.M. Messrs. R. S. Andrysiak and Edwin L. Davies were present. Minutes of the last regular meeting and the special meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION Comes now John Grabarz, Director of the Sub -Standard Division of the Building Department and advises the Board that Willie Lask, owner of property located at `734 S. Bendix Drive had failed to appear as ord,exed to show cause why prpperty had not been demolished as ordered:, Mr. Grabarz requested permission to advertise for bids for demolition. Permission granted. SPECIAL POLICE.OMMISSIONS: BUILDING DEPPARTMENT (SMOGOR_&.M©RROW ) The Board approved Special Police Commissions for Louis E. Smogor and Jack Morrow, Building Department Commission and Inspector, respectively. ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT ( INSTALLATIONS) Following the recommendation of Nicholas Horvath, Electrical Depart- ment Superintendent, the following installations were approved: 1 - Install a street light, 4000 lumen, at 126 S. Kentucky St. 2. - Install a street light, 4000 lumen, at 1530 S. Arnold St. PETITIONS: STREET LIGHTS ( HARTZER STREET & BLAINE AVE.) The following Petitions were submitted to the Board and referred to Nich:blas Horvath, Electrical Department Superintendent for investigation and recommendation: 1. Petition from Councilman Joseph Kroll for installation of a street light on Hartzer Street from Goodland to Bendix Drive. 2."PPetition from fir. and Mrs. Francis Wells and others for the installation of a street light on Blaine Avenue from Vassar Avenue to Humboldt Street at intersection of northwest alley and Blaine Avenu:4. STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file. TRAFFIC ENGINEER: TRAFFIC SIGN INSTALLATIONS Following the recommendation of the Traffic Engineer, the following in-stallations were approved: Yield signs installed on Victoria Street, southwest corner, at Twyckenham Drive. Stop sign installed on Mill Street, southeast corner, at Center Street. 2 Hour time limit signs installed at 1126 S. Main Street. 2 Hour time limit signs installed on Garst Street alongside 1024 S. Franklin Street.--- - - 30 Minute time limit signs installed in front of 1426 Mishawaka Avenue and alongside 1426 Mishawaka Avenue on Clover Street. APPLICATION: AUXILIARY POLICE PATROL An application from Mrs. Anne Mary Flowers for Police Auxiliary School Patrol was accepted and ordered placed on file. REQUEST-: BOARD OF REGISTRATION ( USE OF FIRE STATIONS The Board approved a request from the Board of Registration to use the following fire stations for registration on October 2, 3 and 7 from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.: House House #13 1616 Portage Ave. Hose House #4 1210 W. Thomas St. Hose House #11 2222 Lincoln Way West Hose House #9 2520 Mishawaka Ave. Hose House #5 1000 Lincoln Way East Hose House #3 1805 McKinley Hose House #7 803 N. Notre Dame Hose House #10 1820 S. Michigan St. Hose House #14 2404 S. Twyckenham Hose House #12 4302 Western Ave. APPLICATION: POLICE DEPARTMENT An application from Erwin Jonathon Hoff, Jr. for the Police Department was accepted and ordered placed on file..
