A special meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held an Friday,
September 13, 1963 at 2:30 P.M. All members were present. Also present were
Officer Floyd Chrapliwy, of the Police Department$ Police Chief Harman,
Captain Casimir Zielinski, Sergeant Edward Dudzi-nski, Sergeant John
Weinztel and Officer"Rbbett Seals, all of the South Bend Police Depart-
ment, Dr. E. S. Shelly, Messrs. D. R. Morgan and George Farage, attorneys
for Officer Chapliwy.

Hearing on charges against fficer Floyd Chrapliwy was called to order
by Mr. Irving J. Smith. q
A Motion to Make More Specific with reference to matters of Rule 30 of
the Rules and Regulations of the Police Department, heretofore filed by
Officer Chrapliwy, is sustained and all matters entered in the Charges
referring to violation of Rule 30 of the Rules and•Regulations of the
Police Department are deleted.
Officer Chrapliwy's Motion to Strike is overruled.
Captain Casimir Zielinski, Sergeant Edward Dudzinski, Sergeant John Weinztel
and Officer Robert Seals testified in reference to the Motions and to
Officer Chrapliwy's absences because of illnesses. Officer Chrapliwy's
record of absenteeism, recorded in the official Record of Officer's
Work Schedule, is hereby entered into the record.
Officer Chrapliwy testified in his behalf.
Hearing concluded and the Board takes the matter under advisement to
make a finding within the statutory period.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was
adjourned at 4:30 P.M. n
