HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/29/63 Board of Public Works MinutesJuly 29, 1963 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, July 29, 1963 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. RE: SAMPLE STREET BRIDGE ERECTION OF BEAMS TRAFFIC ENGINEER Comes now Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, with Mr. Holden, engineer with Camonie Construction Company, contractor for hew,Sample Street bridge and informs the Board that in order to erect the beams for the bridge the U. S. Highway No. 33 will have to be closed, as a safety precaution. Mr. Hazinski further informed the Board that he had the approval of the State Highway Department Officials to 'dlose U.S. No. 33 (Lincolnway East) and detour traffic during the time of installation. Mr. Holden informed the Board that the contractor has, agreed to furnish flag men and will hire off -duty police officers to direct traffic during this period. Following the recommendation of Clem Hazinski, the Board approved the temporary closing of U.S. 33, or Lincolnway East and Mr. Hazinski was requested to proceed with plans for this operation. TRAFFIC ENGINEER: STREET SIGN INSTALLATIONS Following the recommendation of the Traffic Engineer, the following installtions were approved: No Parking This Side signs installed on south side of 1500 block of Fisher Street. 2 Hour time limit signs to cover 231 E. Sample St. Yield Signs on Dubail Street, both sides, at Warren Street. Yield Signs on Dubail Street, both sides, at Phillipa Sheet. Yield Signs on Pulaski Street, both sides, at Indiana Ave. Stop Sims on Carlisle Street at Dubail Street. Stop Signs on Magnolia Street, both sides, at Dubail. Stop Signs on Magnolia Street, both sides, at Indiana Ave. Stop -Signs on Swygart, both sides, at Indiana Ave. Stop Signs on Webster, both sides, at Indiana Ave. Stop Signs on Arnold, both sides, at Indiana Ave. SUB -STANDARD DIVISION ( DEM_OLITION BID Comes now John Grabarz, Director of the Sub -Standard Division of the Building Department and advises the Board that a demolition bid received for property located at 919 S. Marietta is very high. Mr. Grabarz requested permission to re -advertise. Permission granted. POLICE DEPARTMENT: MILITARY LEAVE OFFICER D. THOMPSON Officer D. Thompson of the Police Department was granted permission to take military leave from August 18, 1963 until September 21 1963. He will be stationed with the Marine Corp. in California. APPLICATIONS: POLICE DEPARTMENT_ Applications for the Police department from Norman George McKillip and James Edward Hammer were accepted and ordered placed on file. FIRE DEPARTMENT PROMOTIONS RICHARD J. KACZMAREK Following the recommendation of Fire Chief Andrzejewski, Fireman Richard J. Kaczmarek was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, effective August 1, 1963. ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENTT( INSTALLATIONS Following the recommendation of Roger DeClercq, Assistant Superintendent of the Electrical Department, the following installation was A0proved: 1 - 4000 Lumen street light installed between 3803 and 3811 Eastmont Drive. STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file. There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 11:30 A.M. rk 1 1
