A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday,
February 41 1963 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes
of the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were
approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers.
OPENING OF BIDS: TRAFFIC ENGINEERC HEAT LAMP VACUUM SIGN APPLICATOR
PICK-UP TRUCK, STATION WAGON )_
The time now being after 10:00 A.M. it was so announced and bids were
opened and read aloud for the following pieces of equipment for the
Traffic Engineer:
1. Heat Lamp Vacuum Sign Applicator
2. 2 Ton Pick-up Truck
3. Station 1111agon
Proofs of Publication from The South Bend Tribune with affidavit signed
by Robert De Long and The Record with affidavit signed by W. Joseph Doran
were found sufficient.

It appearing that Freeman -Spicer, Inc. are the lowest and best bidder
for both the Station Wagon and the Pick-up Truck, it was the decision
of the Board that the bid for both the Station Wagon and the Pick-up
Truck be awarded as follows:

If order or contract is received by March 4, 1963 prices quoted herein will
be held firm for life of the contract.

This bid will be examined and awarded within the statutory limitations.
BUILDING DEPARTMENT i SUB -STANDARD ➢IVISION - HEARINGS
Comes now John Grabarz, Director of the Sub -Standard Division of the
Building Department and advises the Board that Mr. Strefling, owner of
property located at 919 Marietta had been requested to appear to show
cause why building, which has been .condemned, has not been demolished.
Comes now Mr. Fred Strefling and says that he would like to bring
property up to standard and asked a continuance in order to do this.
After hearing Mr. Strefling, the Board continued the hearing until
June 3, 1963 at which time all repairs must be completed.

With reference to property located at 1216 S. Franklin Street, which
is to be demolished, Mr. Grabarz reported that only one bid had been
received, as follows:
A & G Demolition $260 with salvage $350 without salvage.
The Board directed Mr. Grabarz to award the bid at the $350 figure.
ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT LINSTALLATIQNS ,)
Following the recommendation of Nicholas Horvath, Electrical Department
Superintendent, the following installation was approved:
1 - 4000 lumen street light at 818 S. 31st Street.

Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file.
ACCIDENT REPORTS POLICE DEPARTMENT
Accident reports of no injury nature, were accepted_ and ordered placed
on file.
ACCIDENT REPORT FIRE DEPARTMENT
Accident report from Fire Department, no injury, was accepted and
ordered placed on file.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting
was adjourned at 11:00 A.M.
