HomeMy WebLinkAbout12/17/62 Board of Public Works Minutes1 16 December l7, 1962 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, December 17, 1962 at 10:00 A.M. Messrs. Ray S. Andrysiak and Edwin L. Davies were present. Minutes of the last regular meeting and the special meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION ( HEARINGS Comes now Mr. Theodore Prekowitz, attorney, representing Mr. Joseph Binder and property owned by Mr. Binder located at 607 W. Wayne Street. Mr. Prekowitz requested a continuance of this hearing. Request denied. A representative of the Sub -Standard Division of the Building Depart- ment advised the Board that Mr. Binder had been given until December 10, 1962 to make necessary repairs on building,., and he had failed to comply with this order. After hearing the parties present, the Board ruled that the Sub- r, Standard Division proceed with demolition order, and place advertisements to this effect. Since demolition will not start for two weeks after advertisements appear, it will give Mr. Binder and his attorney ample time to show the Board whether there will be any repair done on this structure. Case continued until December 31, 1962. Comes now Mr. Otto Pozgay, attorney representing the owner of property located at 1302 S. Chapin Street, to'Lishow cause why Mr. Abe Bradley who is purchasing this property under land contract has not complied with repair order. The Board was advised by the Sub -Standard Division representative that all work has stopped three months ago. Mr. Bradley appeared and informed the Board that he had been out of work and would comply with repair orders as soon as he had sufficient funds. At his request, the case was continued until March 11 1962 at which time this property must be -brought up to standard. With reference to property owned by Miss Pearl Daar, located at 513-515 Pennsylvania Avenue, the Board authorized the Sub -Standard Division of the Building Department to award the contract for demolition to the lowest bidder with the understanding that he does not start demolition until after the next Board meeting which will be December 31, 1962. TRAFFIC ENGINEER ( TRAFFIC SIGNS) Following the recommendation of Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, the following installation was approved: 15 Minute Time Limit parking (18 foot space) in front of 736 S. Michigan Street. SPECIAL POLICE COMMISSIONS AND BONDS SMOGOR, FISH. ZYMYSLO) The following Special Police Commissons and Bonds were approved by the Board and ordered placed on file: 1. Police Commission for Louis Smogor, Building Commissioner. 2. Special Police Commission and Bond for William Sterling Fish, Jr., 1-171 I I I I I I who is with the Merchant Security Services. 3. Renewal of Bond, for Richard J. Zy , ms'l0v employed by TDrtington Company. STREET LIGHr OUTAGE REPORTS Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file.
