HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/05/62 Board of Public Works Minutes0 1 November 5, 1962 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, November 5, 1962 at 10:00 A:M. All members were present. Minutes of the last regular meeting were readand approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. APPROVAL OF FIRE STATION SITE ( CITY PLAN Under date of November 1, 1962 the City Planning Commission recommended the proposed fire station site at the corner of Ireland Road and Lafayette Boulevard. Clem Hazinski9 Traffic Engineer$ submitted a report with reference to the New York Central railroad tracks on W. Washington Avenue, just east of College. Mr. Hazinski reported that these tracks in the 1800 block of W..Washingt'on Avenue had been repaired to the satisfaction of his department as of October 31, 1962. The New York Central Railroad is also reducing the super elevation on the north set of tracks at the intersections with Robinson, Caroline, Twyckenhamt Vernon and Leer. This repair will eliminate the ramaining "saw -tooth" effect of the crossings. This work will be completed in a couple of weeks. TRAFFIC ENG N E„CLTRAFFIC SIGNS), Followin�e"commendation of Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, the following installations were approved: Stop Sign installed on Keifer St., northeast corner, at Sheridan Avenue Yield Sign installed at Woodside, southwest corner, at Donmoyer Avenue. 2 - 2 Hour time limit signs installed at 2206 S. Main Street. ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT ( INSTALLATIONS Following the recommendation of Nicholas Horvath, the following installations were approved: 1 - 4000 lumen street light at 1 - 4000 lumen street light at 1 - 4000 lumen street light at 2 - 4000 lumen street lights at on Portage Ave. 1 - 4000 lumen street light at 4730 W. Parkway 530 S. 26th St. 533 S. Dundee St. Hartman Addition entrance 3521 Whitcomb Ave. EbECTRICAL DEPARTMENT - PETITIONS STREET LIGHTS ) The following Petitions for street light installations were referred to the Electrical Department for investigation and recommendation: 1 - Street light in the 3100 block area of Chelsea Court. 2.--Street light on South Chapin Street between Dubail and Bruce Street. WEIGHTS 8 MEASURES -MONTHLY REPORT A Report for the month of October from the Department of Weights and Measures was^accepted and ordered placed on file. APPLICATIONS ( POLICE DEPARTMENT The following applications for the ordered placed on file: David Lee Police Department were accepted and Dabros, Donald Earl Baum. APPLICATION ( AUXILIARY SCHOOL PATROL ) An application for the Auxiliary School Patrol from Mrs. Jacqueline Mae Parker was accepted and ordered placed on file. BUILDING DEPARTMENT ( SUB -STANDARD DIVISION) DEMOLITION The A & J Demolition Company, 318-N. O'Brien Street was awarded the contract to demolish a dwelling located at 527 Euclid Drive. The bid was for $225.00. SUB -STANDARD DIVISION ( HEARING) Comes now Leo Cook, attorney representing Joseph Binder owner of a dwelling located at 607i,. Wayne Street and informs theBoardthat ontdEdward Osborn, contractor, is being retained to bring the said dwelling up to standard. Hearing on action of demolition of building continued until December 10, 1962. Said continuance being predicated on the report of Joseph Binders Leo Cook and Edward Osborn that the work will be completed and brought up to standard one month from date. There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 10:35 A.M. 1
