Minutes of the last regular meeting 4ere read and approved. Vouchers were approved and, ordered paid to the various suppliers. OPENING OF BIDS -,BUILDING DEPARTMENT SEDAN The time now being after 10:00 A.M. it was so announced and bids for the Building Department Sedan were opened and read aloud. Proofs.of Publication from The South Bend Tribune with affidavit signed by Robert DeLong and The Record with affidavit signed by Kathleen Sweitzer were found sufficient. BUILDING DEPARTMENT ( HOUSE MnVE ) Comes now Verner Lane, Building Commissioner, and requests permission to move a house from 216 W. Navarre Street to 1230 N. Meade Street. The Mover is Worden Bros. Hots a has been previously inspected by Mr. Grabarz . W Mr. Joseph Jackiniak, 1418 N. Meade Street and Mrs. Shirley Cossaboom, 836 Dushane Court, both property owners of property on Meade Street, appeared before the Board to inquire whether damage would be done to sewers during move and installation of hook-ups. The Board$ after hearing both parties, approved the house mggve, provided all Codes wane complied with and further, that the City of oath Bend be indemnified with sufficient insurance to protect the City in case of damages. Also, the Secretary of the Board was directed to coordinate the move with the Traffic Engineer in order to ascertain that all provisions of the Building Department are met and that the house remains vacant until it meets all Code Requirements, BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB-STANDARDDIVISION ( HEARINGS ) Comes Now Mr. Boynton, attorney for the Hay Estate concerning property located at 812 S. Rush Street and informs the Board that he has retained Ham The Wrecker to tear down dwelling at above address. He -further requests a continuance until June 25, 1962. Permission grart ed. With reference to property located at 106 S. St. Louis Blvd. and 106f S. St. Louis Bldg., at the request of Mr. Grabarz, 'c©ndemnatlon order was'drdered:and.Mr. Grabarz directed to notify the owner of the property of this action. With reference to property located at 122 E. Paris St., owned by Mr. Rightley of St. Clair Shores, Michigan, Mr. Grabarz reported that the time for bringing property up to standard was completed and he now requests permission to issue demolition order. Permission granted. With reference to property located at 617 Neddo Court, Mr. Grabarz requested that this case be continued until July 9, 1962. Permission granted. TRAFFIC ENGINEER ( CLOSE ODLUMBUS OOURT - WYMANS'S REMODELING ) Comes now Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, and requests that Columbus Court be closed to vehicular traffic for the distance of approximately 150 feet west of the building line on Michigan Street. Also, that protection be afforded for pedestrians to use the north sidewalk of this Court. The rest of the alley ways adjoining should be kept open at all times for use by emergency equipment and delivery of merchandise. The request for the closing of this Court originated with Sollit Construction Company in connection with Wyman's construction work. Permission granted. TRAFFIC ENGINEER ( TRAFFIC SIGNS Following the recommendation of the Traffic Engineer, the following installations were approved: Yield Right of Way signs on Orkney Street, both sides, at York Road. ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT ( STREET LIGHT ) PETITION A Petition from residents of Sylvan Lane request the installation of a street light in the 800 Block of Sylvan Lane because it is unsafe on account of darkness and the fact, according to the petitioners, that this area is a "Loveres Lane" and that this one block has had numerous'Many robberies because of darkness. The Petition was referred to the Electrical Department for investigation and recommendation. FIRE DEPARTMENT i PERMISSION TO ADVERTISE - PUMPER ) Comes now Fire Chief Andrzejewski and requests permission to advertise for one fifteen hundred gallon capacity pumper. Chief Andrzejewski informed the Board that the money is earmarked in the budget for this purchase. Permission granted. The Clerk of the Board is directed to place advertise- ments in The South Bend Tribune and The Record on June 15, June 22. Bids will be opened on July 2, 1962. POLICE DEPARTMENT ( LEAVE - ARMY RESERVE) The approved a leave of absence for Officer Robert Riddle from a' June 10 to June 24, 1962 in order to attend Army Reserve Camp at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. POLICE DEPARTMENT i APPLICATION )_ An application for the Police Department from William Anthony Ryan was accepted and ordered placed on file. POLICE DEPARTMENT ( APPLICATION - AUX. SCHOOL POLICE ) An application from Mrs. Ruth Dean Brabay for the Police Auxiliary School Patrol was accepted and ordered placed on file. STREET_ LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file. SNNUAL SICK LEAVE - POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS_( REAFFIRMATION_ The Board reaffirmed the Rules and Regulations concerning sick leave for the Police and Fire Departments as adopted by the Board on March 269 1956, and contained in the Minutes of that date. SPECIAL POLICE BOND A Bond for 5pecial Police Officer Robert R. Henry was approved and ordered placed on file. There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 11900 A.M•
