February 5, 1962
A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday,
February 52 1962 at 10:00 A.M. CST. All members were present. Minutes
of the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved
and ordered paid to the various suppliers.
OPENING OF BIDS - POLICE DEPARTMENT ( CARS
The time now being after 10:00 A,M. it sas so announced and bids for
the Foliba Department cars were opened and read aloud. Proofs of
Publication from The South Bend Tribune with affidavit signed by
Robert DeLong and The Record with affidavit signed by Kathleen Sweitzer
were read andfound sufficient.
The following bids were received:

The bids will be examined and awarded within the statutory period.
POLICE DEPARTMENT RETIREMENT ( SGT PASALICH)
Comes now Police Chief Harmon and requests the Board to grant permission
for Sgt. R. Pasalich to retire from the Police Department, effective
March 13, 1962 at which time he will have completed 20 years of active
service on the Police Department.
The Board, after examination, grants the request, effective March 13,
1962.
PERMISSION TO ADVERTISE ( FIRE DEPARTMENT - NEW ROOF, CENTRAL STATION)
Comes now Fire Chief Andrzejewski and requests permission to advertise
for a new roof for the Central Fire Station. The present roof, being
over twenty years old, is beyond repair.
The Board, having been assured that there is money earmarked in the 1962
budget for such replacement, granted permission for this construction.
Advertisements will appear on February 9, February 16, 1962 and bids
will be opened on Monday, February 269 at 10:00 A.M.
ATTEND INSTRUCTOR'S CONFERENCE ( FIRE DEPARTMENT)
Comes now Fire Chief Andrzejewski and requests permission for himself
and Assistant Fire Chief Carl B. Ledered to attbnd the Instructor's
Conference to be held in Memphis, Tennessee from February 26 to March
3, 1962.
Permission granted.
LETTER OF THANKS ( FIRE DEPARTMENT)
A letter addressed to the Board, expressing thanks of Robert and Juanita
Wilson, to the members of the Fire Department for their gifts of toys,
food and clothing at Christmas was read, accepted and ordered placed
on file.
BUILDING DEPARTMENT_ REPORTS_
A Report for the year of 1962 from the Building Department was examined,
accepted and ordered placed on file.
A Report for the month of January, 1962 from the Building Department was
examined, accepted and ordered placed on file.
WEIGHTS & MEASURES DEPARTMENT REPORT
A Report for the month of January, 1962 from the Department of Weights
& Measures was examined, accepted and ordered placed on file.
STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS
Street Light Outage Report were accepted and ordered placed on file.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was
adjourned at 11:30 A.M.
