A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SUB -
MIT AN APPLICATION FOR TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO THE
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATUION, U.S. DEPART-
MENT OF COMMERCE, UNDER THE PUBLIC WORKS AND ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT ACT OF 1980.
WHEREAS, the City of South Bend, acting through the Office of the Mayor
and the,Common Council, has aggressively and successfully sought to improve
South Bend's economy by initiating and supporting economic development projects
which increase the City's tax base, job opportunities, and local incomes; and
WHEREAS, the City of South Bend, acting through the Office of the Mayor
and Common Council, has aggressively and successfully sought out federal assist-
ance to support local efforts and to supplement local resources; and
WHEREAS, the Economic Development Administration has provided substantial
support to local economic development and public works projects; and
WHEREAS, the City of South Bend wishes to undertake a major economic
development effort in reindustrializing the Studebaker Corridor; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor is the Chief Executive Officer of the City, and is
the applicant for a Technical Assistance Grant from the Economic Development
Administration.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of
South Bend, Indiana:
SECTION I. Hereby establishes the authority of the Mayor to submit
an application for funds in the amount of Seventy -five Thousand Dollars
($75,000.00) to Economic Development Administration for technical assistance
funds.
SECTION II. Hereby designates the Department of Redevelopment as the
Administrative Agent for the program.
SECTION III. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from
and after its adoption by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor.

Paula N. Auburn from the Economic Development Administration of the
Member U.S. Department of Commerce, in the amount of $75,000.
The Department of Redevelopment intends to use the
grant, plus $25,000 in Community Development Block
Grant funds, to fund a Feasibility Study for the re-
vitalization of the Studebaker Corridor.
We feel this grant is very important for the future of
the Corridor, and for industry in South Bend.
