White, (574) 235-9221 kwhite@southbendin.gov FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE National Voter Registration Day Press Conference Founded in 2012 in anticipation of the presidential election, National Voter Registration Day is designed to create an annual moment when the entire nation focuses on registering Americans to exercise their most basic right – the right to vote. More than 650,000 Americans have been registered to vote since the inaugural National Voter Registration Day. On Tuesday, September 27, 2016, in the County-City Building Lobby at 12 noon the following individuals will be present to encourage citizens, especially the African American community, to focus on exercising their right to vote.
