INDIANA 46601-1830 <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND PETE BUTTIGIEG, MAYOR <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />December 22, 2016 <br />Phyllis Swihart <br />917 Stanfield <br />South Bend, IN 46617 <br />PHONE 574/235-9251 <br />FAX 574/235-9171 <br />RE: Request for Traffic Control Device — Handicapped Accessible Parking Space Sign <br />Dear Ms. Swihart: <br />The Board of Public Works, at its meeting held on December 22, 2016, denied your request <br />for the installation of a handicapped accessible parking space sign at 917 Stanfield, as it does <br />not meet the requirements. <br />The Ordinance for handicapped parking space sign is written for 1) a handicapped vehicle <br />associated with a driver who has medical proof of handicap recognized by the Bureau of <br />Motor Vehicles and who resides at a residence where the space is being reserved and 2) that <br />does not have a driveway that offers ease of handicapped access.
