HomeMy WebLinkAbout10/21/68 Board of Public Works Minutes�;372 October 21, 1968. .A regular meeting of'the Board of Public Works -and Safety met at 10:00 A.M. on October 21, 1968, with Arthur W. Frisk and James A. Bickel present. The minutes of the last meeting were reviewed and approved. EXTENSION OF SICK LEAVE - POLICE DEPARTMENT - EDWARD (. FRIEND Upon the recommendation of Chief•of Police Thomas McNaughton, the Board approved an extension of sick leave for Edward I. Friend until November 1, 1968. RETIREMENT FROM FIRE DEPARTMENT - ROBERT STAHL Upon the recommendati,on.of Acting Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat, the Board accepted and upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, approved the retirement of Robert Stahl, effective October 17, 1968, Mr. Stahl having been appointed to the Fire Department on October 19, 1948, and having served more than 20 years. REQUEST FOR CHANGE IN DRESS SHIRTS - FIRE DEPARTMENT Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request of Acting Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat for a change in dress :shirts for the assistant and battalion chiefs from navy blue to white shirts with black tie, with short sleeves and no tie for summer and long sleeves with tie for winter. REQUEST FOR FIREMEN TO ATTEND EMERGENCY AID COURSE Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the re- quest of Acting Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat for firemen Victor Richart, Richard Lentz and Charles Freeland to attend the Eighth Advanced Course in Emergency Aid and Transportation, Chicago Committee on Trauma of the American College of Surgeons,,Chicago, Illinois on October 30 and 31 and on November 1 and 2, 1968, and for them to use a red car for the trip to and from Chicago. STREET SIGNS APPROVED Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the recommendation of the Traffic Director for the installation of the following street signs: STOP sign on Bissell at Twyckenham STOP sign on -Miner at Twyckenham STOP sign on Sorin at Twyckenham PARKING REMOVAL ON HILDRETH STREET Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the recommendation of the Traffic Engineer to prohibit parking on the north side of Hildreth Street, from Greenlawn to the west property line of 1713 Hildreth, for the reason that Hildreth Street at this location is only 30 feet wide and an increased volume of traffic is anticipated due to the construction of a new parking facility in the 1700 block of Hildreth Street. SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER'S BOND APPROVED Special police officer's bond on behalf of Marilyn Jean Allison to 10/31/69 approved by the Board and ordered filed. STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS for the period 10/9/68 to 10/19/68 received and filed. REPORT ON WEED CUTTING COMPLAINTS - ST. JOSEPH COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT - received and filed.
