A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety met at 10:00 A.M. on September 30, 1968, with all members present. The minutes of the two previous meetings. were reviewed and approved. APPLICATIONS - FIRE DEPARTMENT The following applications for appointment to the Fire Department were received, ordered filed, and refereed to the Personnel Director for further processing: Richard Earl Fogle Daniel Stephen O'Neil Robert Ellis Baker APPLICATIONS - POLICE DEPARTMENT The following applicationsJor appointment to the Police Department were received, ordered filed and referred to the Personnel Director for further processing: Dale Roger Nicholas _ David L. K. Supernaw RETIREMENT - FIRE D;EPAATMKNT Upon the recommendation of Acting Chief Joseph L. Zurat, upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the retirement of fireman Clem Jaroszewski as of October 1, 1968, fireman Jaroszewski having been appointed to the Fire Department April 1, 1941, and having served 272 years with the Fire Department. RETIREMENT - POLICE DEPARTMENT Upon the recommendation of Chief Thomas McNaughton, upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the retirement of Robert R. Urgonski effective October 6, 1968, officer Urgonski having been appointed October 6, 1948 and having completed 21 years of service with the Police Department. PROMOTIONS - POLICE DEPARTMENT Upon the recommendation of Chief Thomas McNaughton, upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the following promotions: Lieutenant Kenneth McDonald to the rank of Captain. Patrolman Walter Szynski to the rank of Detective Sergeant. SPECIAL POLICE OFFICERS' BONDS Special police officers' bonds provided by Drewrys Limited, U.S.A., Inc. as follows: John M. Csakany Edmund J. bosinski George H. Klowetter Joseph Torzewski - for the period .11 If If 9/20/68 to 9/20/69 were approved by;the Board and ordered filed. STREET LIGHT PETITION - DENIED - 621 N. ST. LOUIS STREET Upon the recommendation of the Traffic Engineering Department, after due investigation, the petition for a street light across from 621 N. St. Louis Street, upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, was denied. REMOVAL OF PARKING METERS Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the recommendation of the Traffic Engineering Department for the removal of parking meters was approved by the Board, as follows: 367 Removal of all parking meters temporarily from LaSalle Street bridge during construction. Meters #1, #3 and ##5 on the west side of the 200 block South St. Joseph Street during construction. All said meters to be relocated and replaced upon construction completion. STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS for the period 9/10/68 to 9/27/68 were ordered filed. There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting adjourned at 11:15 A.M. A. Clerk 1
