A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 10:00 A.M. on
June 24, 1968, with all members present. The minutes of the previous meeting
were reviewed and -approved. ,
APPLICATION FOR APPOINTMENT TO FIRE DEPARTMENT
Application of Stephen William Nemeth, 1134 E. Corby Street, South Bend, Indiana,
for appointment to the Fire Department was filed with the Board and referred to
the Personnel Department for processing.
APPLICATIO5 FOR APPOINTMENT TO POLICE DEPARTMENT
The following applications for appointment to the Police Department were filed
and referred to the Personnel Department for processing.

REQUEST FOR EXTENSION OF LOADING ZONES AND REMOVAL OF TWO PARKING METERS
Request of the South Bend Public Transportation Corporation to extend the
loading zone at the American Bank and Trust Company on Washington Street,
to the alley entrance, and the loading zone south bound on Michigan Street
at the Fannie May `Gandy Store by the removal of two parking meters, was filed
and, on motion made, seconded and carried, was referred to the Traffic Engineer
for investigation and recommendation.
STREET SIGNS INSTALLED AT CEDAR AND JACOB STREETS
Clem Hazinski, Traffic Director, reports the installation of stop signs and
posts on Cedar Street at Rockne, and stop signs and posts on Jacob Street at
Cedar Street.
CHANGE IN LOCATION OF STREET LIGHT ON HUEY STREET
Change in the location of street light on Huey Street, between Bertrand and
Roger Street, approved by the Board on 6/10/68, to a location on Huey between
Kenwood and Bertrand, was approved by the Board.
REQUEST TO RELOCATE STREET LIGHT ON NAPIER STREET
At the request of South Bend Range Corporation and upon recommendation of the
Traffic Engineer, and upon the release of the light in question from .the
project area submitted to the Mayor, the Board approved a change in location
of street light from the north side of the Penn -Central; R.R. tracks at the
point where Cherry Street dead ended into the tracks to 1/2 block north and
one block east to the alley on Napier Street between Cherry and Chestnut Streets.
STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS for the period 6/12/68 to 6/21/68 were filed.
There being no further business to come before the B d, the meeting ad-
journed at 11:50 A.M.
