APPLICATIONS - POLICE DEPARTMENT The following applications for employment with the Police Department were, filed and referred to Personnel for processing: Dennis Jan Bailey Gordon LeRoy Hoke Robert Walter Liszewski Gary Gene Stansbury Adrian Lee Way APPLICATIONS - FIRE DEPARTMENT The following applications for employment with the Fire Department were filed and referred to the Personnel Department for processing: Stephen William Danielowicz, III John Francis Platz REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL SICK LEAVE FROM POLICE DEPARTMENT - EDMUND HAGENIERS Officer Edmund Hageniers, upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, and upon the recommendation of Chief of Police McNaughton, was granted one additional week of sick leave from March 25, 1968. REQUEST TO ATTEND 16th INTERNATIONAL ARSON SEMINAR — FIRE BN. CHIEF DIEDRICH Fire Battalion Chief William Diedrich, upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, and upon the recommendation of Fire Chief McHenry, was granted permission to attend the 16th International Arson Seminar, from April 8, to 12, 1968, in Columbus, Ohio. RETIREMENT FROM FIRE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATIONS OF DERDAK, ZIELINSKI, NAESSENS Applications and declarations for retirement from the South Bend N to De- partment were filed with the Board as follows: Victor Derdak - Appointed 3/17/48. Retirement date 3/31/68. 20 yrs. Stanley Zielinski'- Appointed 4/3/48. Retirement date 4/5/68. 20 yrs. August Naessens - Appointed 11/l/45. Retirement date 4/7/68. 20 yrs. 4 mos. REQUEST FOR STREET LIGHT - FLORENCE STREET - BETWEEN JOHNSON _&BROOKFIELD) The request of the Parish of St. Stanislaus Church for the installation of a street light on Florence Street, midway between Johnson and Brookfield Streets, was filed and referred to the Traffic Engineer. STREET LIGHTS APPROVED Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the following recommendations of the Traffic Engineer for street lights were approved bjr;the Board: Memorial Hospital Request. Department recommends increasing the 2 4,000 L street light on Main Street opposite the Hospital to 7,000 LMV. The additional cost would be 50�/mo. (3.15 to 3.75) or $6.00/yr. ($37.80 to $43,&80). Also recommends the installation of a 10,000 L INC UG S.P. at the alley intersection on Navarre between Michigan and Main. The cost to the city would be $8.20/mo. or $98.40/yr. 500-600 block of S. Carlisle. The Department recommends installation of a 4,000 lumen, OH, WP street light between 526-530 S. Chippewa and Whitcomb. The Department recommends the installation of a 4,000 lumen, OH, WP street light on the northwest corner of Chippewa and Woodmont. The cost to the city would be $3.15/mo. or $37.80/yr. George Avenue. Department recommends that a 4,000 L, OH street light be installed on an existing pole. The cost to the city would be $3.15/mo. or $37.80/yr. 26th Street. The Department finds a few mid -block street lights in this area. The city blocks in partment finds no objection to this the area are about 600 feet long. De- installation of a 4,000 L. OH WP street light. The cost to the city would be $3.15/mo. or $37.80/yr. YIELD SIGNS Upon motion duly made, seconded and passed, the recommendation of the Traffic Engineering Department for the following yield signs was approved: Northeast and southwest corners of Bellevista at Illinois - yield signs and posts. Northeast and southwest corners of Bellevista at Wellington - yield signs and posts. STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS Street light outage reports for the period 3/12/68 to 3/22/68 were filed.
