The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety was opened at 10:00
A. M. with members James A. Bickel and Lloyd Taylor present. The minutes of the
previous meeting were read and approved.

Fire Chief McHenry appeared before the Board and recommended the promotion of John
Merlin Becker, Jr, to the Rank of Lieutenant to cover a vacancy.
The Board approved the promotion:a
RESIGNATION OF BERNARD J. REITER. OF SOUTH BEND POLICE DEPARTMENT
Sgt. Bernard J. Reiter of the South Bend Police Department having this date sub-
mitted his request for retirement from the Police Department after having
completed twenty years of service, having been appointed October 6, 1947, same is
hereby unanimously approved by the Board of Public Works effective.January 1, 1968.
POLICE APPLICATION
The application of David Lee Supniewski was filed by the Board.
STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPQRTS
The street light outage f'eports for the week were filed by the Board.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.

A special meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety was called to order
at 10:00 A. M. this date with members Robert J. DuComb and James A. Bickel
attending.
Chief Thomas McNaughton having submitted the name of Larry Dean Hostetler to be
appointed as Police Officer, and having recommended that he is elibible and having
satisfactorily passed the exams, same is hereby approved by the Board of Public
Works and Safety effective December 16, 1967.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
