HomeMy WebLinkAbout10/09/67 Board of Public Works Minutes1 1 1 October 9, 1967 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety was called to order at 10:00 A. M. with all members present. RESIGNATION OF THGUS GRANT Officer Thomas Grant having this date presented to the Board of Public Works and Safety his request to resign after having completed twenty years of service to the South Bend Police Department, the same is hereby approved unanimously to be effective October 15, 1967. TRANSFER OF FUNDS - SOUTH BEND POLICE DEPARTMENT Chief' Thomas McNaughton appeared before the Board of Public Works and Safety andrequested a transfer of funds in the Police Department. RESOLution #15: "It is hereby resolved unanimously by the Board of Public Works and Safety that $100.00 be transferred from P-261(lrlechanical Assistance) to account P-263(Household Laundry and Cleaning, all being in the same,general fund. t1 INDIANA LEGISLATURE ACTS OF 12L &&ENDED By resolution unanimously approved by the Board of Public Works and Safety, -the Rules and Regulations -of the South Bend Police Department, Section #4.49 and'of the South Bend Fire Department #cR543 are each of them ammended to read as follows: "SECTION 1. Place of residence of policemen and firemen -- Cities of first, second. -third, fourth and fifth classes. Members of the police and fire departments of cities the first, second, third, fourth and fifth classes shall reside within the county in which said city is located and said residence shall be within fifteen (15) miles of the corporate limits of such city: Provided however, That any member of such police or fire department shall live outside the corporate limits of such city and within fifteen (15) miles thereof, shall have adequate means of transportation into such city and maintain in his residence telephone service with such city: Provided further, 7}owever, that in cities of the ifth class, the city council may require policemen and firemen to reside within the corporate limits of such city until any such member has served for five years." APPOINTMENT OF FIRMIEN TURCZYSSKI AND HEIDRICH Fire -Chief Cecil McHenry of the South Bend Fire Department '_Having this date requested the Board of Bublic Works and Safety to appoint Eugene Turczynski, of 232 No. Edison St. South Bend and Richard Heidrich, of 1806 So. Kendall St. South Bend, Indiana, to the South Bend Fire Department, and they having passed all physical requirements and having been approved by the Pension Board, the Board of Public Works and Safety resolves unanimously to appoint said men effective October 16, 1967. APPLICATIONS - FIRE DEPARUIENT Applications for the fire department were filed for Brian David Wellsand Thomas Michael Keres.
