October 2, 1967
The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety was held at 10.00
A. M. with all members present.- The minutes of the previous meeting were read
and approved.
C_APT EUQENE R. BER NAU- RETIREMENT
Chief of Police Thomas McNaughton submitted the following report:
Captain Eugene R. Bergman of the South Bend Police Department, having this
date submitted his request for retirement from the Police Department after having
completed twenty years of active service on October 14, 1967, same is hereby
unanimously approved by the -Board offPublic Works effective October 14, 1967.
-REQUEST - SEND POLICE SERGEANTS TO SEMINAR
Chief.of Police Thomas McNaughton requested permission to send Sergeants Emery Molnar,
Frederic Odusch, Don. M.,Niezgodski,'and Edward I. Friend to the Homicide Seminar to be
held at the University of Cincinnati from November 13, 1967 to November 18, 1967.
The Board 'approved the request.
SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER APPLICATIONS
Special police applications were approved for Tonna Miller for Robertson's Department
Store and for Maria Van Kirk for Gilbert's Clothing Store.
SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER BONDS
Bonds for special police officers for John S. Antowick, John M. Sxakany, Edmund J.
Hosinski, George H. Klowetter and Joseph Torzewski were approved bjy�Uae Board of
Works.
POLICE DEPA.RDIIENT APPLICATION
An application for the police depaatment was filed by Donald Earl Balsley.
STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS
The Street light outage reports for the week were filed by the Board.
