HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/17/67 Board of Public Works MinutesM-1 July 17, 1967 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was called to order at 10:00 A. M with members Robert J. DuComb, and Lloyd S. Taylar present. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. MON=ZTREPORT - POLICE DEPARTMENT The monthly report for the month of June was presented by the Police Department and ordered filed by the Board. PETITION STREET LIGHT - SOUTH COQUILLARD BETWEEN WILSON AND JEFFERSON A Petition was filed by Arthur S. Simon and David C. Ford and others to have a street light installed on South Coquillard between Wilson and Jefferson Ave. The petition was referred to the Engineering Department. RESIGNATION - POLICE DEPARTMENT - CAPT WILLIAM THOMAS Captain William Thomas of the South Bend Police Department having this date sub- mitted to the Board of Public Safety his request for retirement from the Police Department for the reason that he has had more than 20 years in active service, his retirement is hereby accepted effective August 1, 1967. SPECIAL POLICE APPLICATION - MOZELLE TOTH �-� A special police application for Mozell Toth for Robertsons Department store was submitted and referred back to the Police Department for signature. BOND - SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER RICHARD JOSEPH DUNLAP A spcial police bond for Richard Joseph Dunlap was ordered filed by the Board. TRUCK ORDINANCE GERTRUDE STREET Mr. ClemeHazinski has submitted a request for permission to post Gertrude. Street from Prairie to Ewing and from Ewing to the City Limits with "Trucks Prohibited" signs. The request was approved and Mr. DuComb requested that Mr. Duck inform the police department that this must be strictly enforced. TRAFFIC ENGINEERS REPORT Mr. Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, has requested that the following be added to the minutes of the day, after approval :the Board Change the time limit signs in from of 603 W. Washington from the present 2 hour limit to 30 minute limit. 2 hour time Limit signs on Frances Street (Between McKinley & LaSalle) 2 Hour Limit signs at 1005 E. LaSalle St. REQUEST - FIRE CHIEF MCHENRY Because of the request of Fire Chief McHenry; Mr. Clem Hazinski has asked that the curb opposite the fire station in the 700 block of west Sample Street be painted yellow and "no parking" be installed as the fire apparatusscannot maneuver either entering or leaving when vehicles are parked at that curb. It has been recommended that 360 feet of curb be painted yellow and parking be prohibited. The Board approved the request.
