The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety was called to
order at 10:00 A. M. with all members present. The minutes of the previous
meeting were read and approved.
REQUEST - CARL B, LEDERER - ATTEND'MEETING
Fire Chief McHenry requested perr''ssion for Lieutenant Carl B. Lederer to
attend a meeting on June 2A- h i he State 'Office Building at Indianapolis.
John Klaybor requested that he attend this meeting and his expenses will be
paid by the St.'Joseph County Civil Defense office.
TRAFFIC ENGINEER - STOP SIGNS,
Clem F. Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, has asked that the following stop signs
be installed and recorded in the days minutes:
STOP sign & post on Clyde at Randolph
STOP sign & post on Clyde at Dayton
STOP sign & Post on Clyde at Dubail
TRAFFIC ENGINEER - PARKING METER TIME LIMIT CHANGE ON WEST COLFAX

Clem F. Hazinski, Director of Traffic Engineering Department has requested
that since the business establishments that required twelve minute parking
limits on the north side of the 100 block of West Colfax have relocated, it
is recommended meters #17 and #19 be changed to one hour meters, leaving
meter #21 for short term usage.
The request was a pproved by the Board, and the Secretary was instructed to
notify the parking meter department.
REPORT FRCdUI FIRE CHIEF - LETTERS FRCflUI DONAL D MYERS AMBULANCE SERVICE
Fire Chief Cecil McHenry reported that after making an investigation of
Mr. Donald Myers, wh6 would like to operate an ambulance system in the City
of South Bend by using our radio communications by monitoring the emergency
radio calls, he feels that they would be violating the State and Federal
regulations by permitting him to monitor the calls, and he feels reluctant
in giving him permission.
STREET LIGHT RECGWNDATION - REVERE PLACE AND KENTUCKY STREET
A recommendation to install a street light at Revere Place and Kentucky Street
was approved by the Board after a communication for such recommendation was
submitted by Clem Hazinski.

The area is quite dark and all intersections in this vicinity are illuminated
except this particular one. A 4000 lumen street light is.recommended at a
cost of $3.15 per month to the City.
STREET LIGHT RECOMMENDATION - 1200 BLOCK EAST LASALLE
The Board approved a recommendation from Mr. Hazinski to install a street
light in the 1200 Block of East LaSalle at a cost of $3.15 per month to the
City.
PARKING METER REMOVAL - WASHINGTON AND MAIN STREETS
Because of the Demolition and construction work at the northwest corner of
Washington and Main Streets, it is recommended that parking meters # 1, #3,
#5, #7 and #9 be removed from the west side of the 100 block of No. Main St.
and meters #1, 3 and 5 be removed the north side of the 200 block of West
Washington Street. It is further recommended that meters #2,4 and #6 on the
south side of the 200 block of West Washington be removed and parking be
prohibited in that half block to permit maneuvering and movement of an
additional lane of traffic. The Board approved the recommendation.
SPECIAL POLICE BONDSAPPROVED•
Special police bond for the year beginning July 1, 1967 to July 1, 1968 were approved
for Edward Radecki of the Associates Investment Company and also Louis Horvath of
the Associated. Investment Company,
APPLICATION - FIRE DEPARTMENT
An application for the fire department was -filed-, for Joseph Theodore Lockmondy.
STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS
The Street light outage reports for the week were approved and ordered filed.
There being no further business,
the meeting was adjourned.
