The minutes of the previous meeting were read andyppproved. FIRE DEPARTMENT Fire Chief McHenry appeared and requested permission to attend the 41st annual Conference of the Indiana Fire Gheefs'Association in Evansville, Indiana on September 28 to 30th, 1966. The Board approved same. FIRE DEPARTMENT - NEW APPOINTIES Fire Cgeef McHenry having this date appeared and submitted the following names as new appointies of the fire department and having informed the Board that they #ave filled all the physical requerements and been approved.by the pension Board of the South Bend Fire Department, they are hereby approved by the Board to become members effective October 1, 1966, Calvin James Everly 6f 716 Fairway, South Beads John Samarich, 318 E. Irvington South Bend, and Charles J.'Steele, 215 No. Francis' Street, South Bend. POLICE DEPARTMENT- EARL PAFFENBA.CH RETIREMENT Earl W. Paffenbach of the South Bend Police Department having filed with the Board of Public Safety his notice of retirement, and said officer having bees with the department since December 10, 1945, the Board hereby approved retirement effective October 4, 1966. SPECIAL POLICE OFFICERS Richard B. Gartner and Leslie R. Gorbics were approved as Special Police for the City of South Bend. POLICE DEPARTMENT - MONTHLY REPORT Chief Hampton submitted his report for the month of August, 1966 and same was approved by the Board. STREET LIGHT-ING INDUSTRIAL PARK The Street Lighting for the Airport Industrial Park was approved by the Board. This will include 43 7000L Mere. Vapor. The cost ill be 43 at $ 3.75 which is $16125 per month or $1,935.00 per year. POLICE DEPARTMENT APPLICATIONS The following police applications were acceepted by the Board and ordered filed: David Michael Molnar, Dennis Lee Severns and wayne Donald Utterback.
