Members present were Mr. Lloyd Taylor and Mr. James A. Bickel. PERMISSION TO ADU'ERTISE fOR CAR POLICE DEPARWNT The Police Department was given permission to advertise for a new 1967 four door sedan with a 1966 Plymouth four door sedarn to be offered as trade in. This will be advertise on September 23 and September 30 and bids willbe accepted on October 3, 1966. SIGNS - CLEM HAZINSKI - TRAFFIC CONTROL.: Mr. Elem Hazinski, Traffic Director asked that -the following signs be recorded in the record and added to the minutes of the meeting: NO PARKING SIGN at a point 50 ft. east of Leland on the south side of Riverside. NO PARKING THIS SIDE on west side of Riverside Dr. from California Ave. "30" STOP SIGN & POST at N. W. corner of California & Riverside. STREET LIGHT PETITION - 900 BLOCK 21st Street A group of residents.signed a petition to have a street light installed at the intersection of the east west alley in the 900 block of 21st Street. The Board referred the Petition to the Engineer's office for study and recommendation. REQUEST - SOUTHMORE MUTUAL HOUSING CORP A letter from the Southmore Mutual Housing corporation requesting that a study be made as to feasability of erecting "No Parking This aide of Street" sigs on the following streets: East Klinger Street, South Wise Circle, South Langley Drive, South Montgolfier Place and East Southmore Drive was received by the Board. They also stated in their request that tohave such signs erected has been expressed by the Fire Department thereby aleviating congestion of the streets and lessening the danger to youngsters. The letter was referred to Mr. Clem Hazinski, Traffic Director. PETITION: TH(1V[AS JEFFERSON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AREA Two petitions signed by residents of the vicinyty of the Thomas JgffersonSchoo� area concerned with the condition and regulation of traffic on Eddy Street from Bronson Street to Sunnymede Avenue were receiaed and read as follows: The request that an electric traffic control signal be installed at the intersection of Eddy Street and Sunnymede Avenue, South Bend. This petition was signed by 240 persons. The request that the speed limin on Eddy Street, from Bronson Street to Sunlymede Avenue be established at twenty miles per hour. This petition was signed by 245 persons. The preceding request was referred Clem Hazinski, Traffic Director. `208 FIREMAN JOSEPH DEBUYSSER - PRCMOTION Fire Chief McHenry appeared and recommended. that due to the retirement of.Lt. John Andert, that Fireman Joseph DeBuysser be promoted to the.rank of Lieutenant to fill this vacancy. This was approved by the Board and will become effective October 1, 1966.
