The Board of Public Works and Safety met in the City Hall at 10:00 A.M. with
all members present. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and
approved.
FE ECDEPARTMENT - APPOINTMENTS
TheChiefof the South Bend Fire Department having this date recommended to the
Board, of Public Works and Safety the appointments to the Fire Department of the
following men, and having informed the Board that they meet the requirements
necessary for appointment to the Fire Department, the men here forenamed
are hereby appointed to the South Bend Fire Department to start their proba-
tionary period effective, July 16, 1966.
Edwin J. Kaczmarek, Jr. 803 Birchwood Avenue
Ervin J. Machowiak 414 South Behdix Drive
Russell E. Beery 310 South 36th St.
Stephen L. Sheets 1918 Randolph St.
Guy F. Chapman, Jr. 3614 Fellows St.
Larry S. Nitka 526 South Dundee St.
Mr. Nitka has been accepted ;with one reservation, that he gain three pounds
during his six months probationary 2eriod.

REQUEST - STREET LIGHT
V A request was received Mrs. Mrs. Herald E. Miller for a street light in the
V 900 block of Twenty-first Street.
The letter was zeferred by the Board to Eugene Radecki.
PETITION - STREET LIGHT
A petition for a street light at Columbia and Dayton Streets was signed by
several residents.
The Board referred the petition to Mr. Eugene Radecki's Office.
,PETITION:REMOVAL OF NO PARKING BAN ON OLIVE ST
A petition for the removal of a no parking ban on the Westside of Olive. Street
240 feet north from the intersection of Olive and Western Avenue, From 6:00'
R.='Mt to 6:00 A. M. Monday through Friday and 12:00 Noon on Saturday to 12:00
Midnight on Sunday.and signed by approximately 200 residents was received and
referred to Mr. Lloyd Taylor, City Engineer, for correspondence.
BOND SPECIAL POLICE - KINGSAFER
A Bond for Special Police Officer Robert L. Kingsafer was approved and ordered
filed by the Board.
STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPCpTS
The Street light outage reports for the week were approved and ordered filed
by the Board.
