The minutes of the prewious meeting were read and approved. FIRE DEPARTMENT - AWARDING OF FIRE HOST BID The Board of Public Works and Safety, in the 'best interest of the City of South Bend now awards the Fire Hose Bid, to the Midwest Fire and Safety Equipment Co., Inc. 1605 Prospect St., Indianapolis, Indiana for Items five and six only. PETITION- STREET LIGHT A petition for a street light at Emmanuel Church of Christ on St. Louis and St. Vincent Street signed by Several people in the vicinity was filed by the Board and send to Eugene Radecki for investigation and recommendation. REQUEST: INDIANA FIREMEN's ASSOCIATION CONVENTION A request from Lester Van DeWalle Chairman of the Indiana Firemen's Association Convention to close the 300 block of St. Joseph Street from Wayne Street to the Grand Truck R. R. tracks from 11:00 A. M. until 3:00 P. M. on Sunday, July 31, for the purpose of holding a State-wide water ballcontest, was approved. The. Secretary was instructed to notify the Street department and the Police Department. V FIRE DEPARTMENT - MICHAEL KUMINECZ RETIREMENT Michael Kuminecz, having this date filed with the Board of Public Works his request for retirement with the South Bend Fire Department and it being shown that he has been eontinuously a member of said Department of more than twenty-five years, said retirement is granted, and said Michael Kuminecz,. Fireman, is hereby dudered retired from the South Bend Fire Department effective the 24th day of July, 1966. POLICE DEPARTMENT - ORSON E. HARMAN MILITARY LEAVE A request from Captain D. Harman for twelve days of Military Leave, July 11 thru Friday, July 22 at Bunker Hill Air Force Base was approved by the Board. POLICE DEPARTMENT - OFFICER J. R. KILE - ARMY RESERVE SUM ER CAMP, Officer J. R. Kile requested a leave to attend Army Reserve summer camp at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin from July 10 to July 24, 1966. The Board approved same. POLICE DEPARTMENT - R. E. BADICS - REQUEST TO MOVE OUTSIDE CITY LIMITS Lt. R. E. Badims requested permission to move outside the City Limits to 19701 Hildebrand St. The Board approved same. TRAFFIC DIRECTOR - REMOVAL OF PARKING METERS TEMPORARILY A request from Clem F. Hazinski, Traffic Director recommending that 6 Parking Meters numbered 1 through 9 be removed from the north side of the 200 block of W. Wayne Street, due to the demolition of the church at the northwest corner of Main and Wayne and the subsequent widening of the 200 block of W. Wayne Street. The Board approved the removal of the parking meters. Depending upon the space available, as many as possible will be replaced after job is completed. TRAFFIC DIRECTOR - PARKING SIGNS Mr. Clem Hazinski, Traffic Director, has asked that the following be added to the minutes: 2 Hour parking limit signs & posts at 2518-2528 Western Avenue. STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS The street light outage reports were approved and ordered filed. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. 1 1
