The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety was opened at 10:00
A. M. with all members present. The minutes of the last regular meeting and the
special meeting were read and approved.
RADIO COMMUNICATIONS CONTROL CENTER BIAS
This being the date set and the hour of 10:00 A. M. sealed bids were opened for the
City of South Bend Police Dept Radio Communications Center. Proof of publication
from the Sstuth Bend Tribune with affidavit signed by Robert DeLong and from the
Tri-County News with affidavit signed by Alfred Snyder II, were read and found
sufficient.
The following bids were received:

Furnish material, labor, and equipment necessary to fabricate and install a
complete Communications Control Center and Status Display System at the proposed
Central Services Center Building of the City of South Bend, Indiana, in that
portion of the building designated as the police Department Communications Center.
One (1( completely installed and operating Communications Center and Status
Display System as per plans and specifications herewith attached, and consisting
of:
One (1) Two position Dispatcher's Console equipped with control facilities
for two two -frequency transmitters and six single frequency receivers. In
addition there will be wired in for future expansion, facilities for one
additional two -frequency transmitter and four additional single frequency
receivers, said additional facilities to consist only of the necessary
wiring, switches, and controls but not including the driving amplifiers.

The preceding bids will be taken under advisement and checked according to
specifications and the award of the bid will be announced as soon as possible.
STREET LIGHTS - LATHROP AVENUE
A request from Lloyd S. Taylor, City Engineer, for two street lights to be
installed on Lathrop Avenue, the first light to be approximately 160 feet
east of Bendix Drive and the second light to be approximately 500 feet east
of Bendix Drive to control the dumping along that street.
This request Was approved by the Board and referred to Gene Radecki of the
Electrical Department.
REQUEST - TIMOTHY BRASSELL - SUMdtER TRAINING CAMP
Mr. Eugene Radecki, Spperintendant of the Electrical Department requested per-
mission for Timothy J. Brassell, a member of the department to attend summer
training camp at Camp McCoy Wisconsin from July 9 to July 23.
The permission was granted.
STREET LIGHT APPROVALS
The following street light approval were made by the Board after Having been
petition by individualssand residents and approved by the Engineering Dept. and
Mr. Radecki, superintendant:
East Byron Drive 4000 lumen light Corner of Byron and Kennedy Drives.
2817 and 2901 Fredrickson St. 4000 lumen light
531 Leland Avenue 4000 Lumen Light Existing Pole J234-673

Twyckenham Drive south of L. W. E. at R. R. Crossing
Removal of five street lights and the installation of two Mercury
Vapor lights. Savings $ 2.35 per month.
Increase of lumens from 16,000 for five lights against 42,000 w6t1.
Mercury Vapor lights, an increase of 26,000 lumens at a decrease in
cost.
The following recommendations were made:
Pulaski Street at the first alley north of Sample Street.- a 4000 lumen
street light he installed on the existing pole at thealley south of the
property at 836 So. Pulaski St. A recommendation from Mr. Taylor that
the light to the north be mowed south as on Jackson St.
Miner Street between ArthUr and Eddy Streets - Tree Trimming would solve
Problem, or have a light placed on front of church.
The following street light petitions were denied:
East Irvington Street 150 feet west of Miami Street - heavy tree condition
2130 West Washington Street - Rear of vacant light
The following were held for further investigation:

Clyde Street from Victoria to Fairview Streets/
PETITION - STREET LIGHT - WAISH STREET
A petition from several residdnts on E. Madison and in the 400 block of Walsh
for a street light at the North Alley was filed by the Board and referred to
Gene Radecki for further investigation and recommendation.
ARMY RESERVE TRAINING - DET E I FRIEND
A request from Det. E. I. Friend and approved and signed by Chief Hampton for
Met. Friend to attend Army Reserve training At Camp McCoy, Wisconsin from July
9 through July 23, was approved Py the Board.
ARMY SMUER CRAP 6 M= 1 `RDBISON
A request ffom James E. Robison and approved and signed by Chief Hampton for
James E. Robison to attend summer camp at Camp McCoy Wisconsin from July 9 to
July 23, 1966 was approved by the Board.
SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER REQUEST
Mr. James Robert Walker of the City Heating Inspection department requests approval
as a special police officer. The Board signed the application and it will be
referred to Chief Hampton for signature.
SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER BOND RENEWALS
Mr. Edward Radecki and Mr. Louis Horvath, sPecial Police Officers for Associates
Inlestment Co, were given approval of renewal bonds.
STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS
The Street Light Outage Reports for the week and 'approved and ordered filed.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
