The minutes of the previous meeting were read and a]�provtFd. PETITION DENIED - YELLOW LINE ON SO ST JOSEPH ST A report from Mr. Clem Hazinski, Traffice Director, in regard to the petition for a double yellow center line on South St. Joseph Street between Chippewa and 3703 South St. Joseph Street submitted by Mr. R. J. Yoder is as follows: This request is denied since the street is 30 feet wide at this point and center lining is not recommended on a street of this width. The Secretary was instrudted to inform Mr. Yoder of this report. ELECTRIC AL DEPARTMENT - REPORTS ON STREET LIGHT_PETITIONS Mr. Eugene Radecki, superintendant of the Electrical Department submitted the following reports on street light petitions: North of Chippewa Avenue on St. Joseph Street =- A /+000 lumen street light to be installed on the existing pole No. J327-463, just northof the curve. To light this curve may prove to be a traffic safety factor. 5015-5021 Seenic Drive and Scenic Drive and Ford Street - Installation of a street light on Scenic Drive between 5015 and 5021. An easement here makes this a very good location, and a 4000 lumen light will serve this area well. Due to heavy pedestrian and automobile traffic, the 10.000 lumen street light at Scenic Drive and Ford Street be replaced witha 21,000 Mercury Vapor light. This increase in power would prove to insure safer crossing at this corner. 1333 East McKinley Avenue: The Electrical Department investigation shows there is a need for a street light near 1333 East McKinley Ave. This area is very dark there and there is also a great deal of automobile traffic. It is recommended that mid -block on existing pole No. J260-17 a 6000 lumen street light be installed. Garland Woods Addition on Eaton Drive, east of Miami St.: The Electrical Department has no prints of the area in Garland Woods Addition on Eaton Drive, east of Miami Street. Eaton Drive is a dead end street that ends with a circle. This area is very dark, and we recommend the installation of a street light at the circle. At the present time only one home is being build there, and I will r recommend that the Board approve a light on EatonnDrive at the circle when the homes are occupied and a 4000 lumen light would then be installed. The Board approved the preceding recommendation to be corrected at once as follows: To be installed now, rather than waiting until homes are completed. Should help to reduce vandalism while homes are under construction. Twyckenham Drive from South Bend Avenue south to Howard Street - The Electrical Department recommends that a change should be made by the installationof a 4,000 lumen street light at Scottswood Drive and Twyckenham Drive, on the northeast corner on pole J236-553. The existing street light on Twyckenham Drive south of Scottswood Drive should be moved one pole span south on pole J236-443. This will balance out the lighting in the area. The Board of Works and Safety approved the preceding recommendations and ordered same filed. PETITION STREET LIGHT - L300 E. WASHINGTON A petition from residents on E. Washington Street to install a street light in the 1300 Block was filed by the Board and the Secretary was instructed to send same to Eugene Radecki for Study -:and recommendation. PETITION - RECOMMENDATION FROM TRAFFIC', DIRECTOR -YOUR WAY STOP AT SHERIDAN AND ARDMORE Mr. Clem Hazinski, Traffic Director, submitted a comprehensive report along with recommendations. This report was filed by the Board and will be stddied and further recommendation made at a later date. CM'LAINT - WOODLAWN BLVD - RESIDENTS - A letter of complaint from several residents on Woodlawn Avenue forwarded from Dick Geib, City Councilman, complaining about the "Woodlawn Raceway" during the summertime and asked that the City work out some slowing device. The Board asked that the Secretary refer this letter to the Traffic Engineer and the Police Department. MILITARY LEAVE - OFFICER K. DELINSKI A request submitted and approved by Chief Hampton for Officer K. Delinski to attend Summer Camp training from June 19 through July 3, 1966 for fifteen days Military Leave for the 192nd Ordnance Company Supply Depot of the Sected Reserve Force. The Board agprDved the leave. SPECIAL POLICE APPLICATION HUBERT D. STULTS Hubert D. Stults of the Romy Hammes Corporation applied for a Special. Police License. This was signed by the Board but approval by the Police Dept. will be held up until a bond is received. TRAFFIG-ZIGN - MADISON ST Mr. Clem Hazinski, Traffic Director, asked that the following sign be approved at the June 13 Board meeting. 2 Hour Parking limit signs at 402 E. Madison Street. SPECIALPOLICE BOND - LEROY BATCHELOR A special police Officers Bond for LeRoy Batchelor to run from June 7, 1966 to 1967 was approved and ordered filed by the Board. POLICE DEPARTNIENT - MONTHLY REPORT The monthly report for May was submitted by Chief Hampton and ordered filed by the Board. POLICE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATION An application for the Police Department from Terry Lee Hough was ordered filed by the Board. FIRE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATION An application from Arthur Jack Harley for the Fire Department was ordered filed by the Board. STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS The street light outage Deports were approved and ordered filed by the Board. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 11:00 A. M. ti* CHAIRMAN
