April 11, 1966
The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety was held at 10:OQA. M.
on April 11, 1966 with all members present. The minutes of -the previous
meeting were read and accepted.
REQUEST - FIRE CHIEF ARSON SEMINAR
The Fire Chief, Cecil McHehrry requested permission for Battalion Chief William
Diedrich and Battalion Chief Lowell Badman to attend the Arson Seminar
to be held at the University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland, from April 25
to 29th.
The Board approved the request.
FIRE DEPARTMENT - WILLIAM H DYER
William H. Dyer of the South Bend Fire Department,having previously been
promoted to the,Tank of Lieutenant of the Department, now presents to the Board
his resignation as such. Lieutenant.
Same is accepted and William H. Dyer is hereby reduced to the rank of Private
effective April 6, 1966.
FIRE DEPARTMENT RAY SQJW0' 'R
Fireman Ray Scheuer of the South Bend Fire Department having submitted to the Board
of Public Works and Safety his resignation from the Department for the'reason
that he has completed twenty five years on the Department and wishes to enter
into retirement, same is hereby accepted effective April 151, 1966.
POLICE DEPARMMT - ARSON SCHOOL
A request from Chief Hampton to have Det. Serg't Robert W. Seals to attend the
University of Maryland Arson Investigation Seminar, to be held at the
University of Maryland April 25 through April 29, 1966.
Permission was granted.
POLICE DEPARTMENT - SPECIAL POLICE
The following Special Policemen for The Street Department were approved by
the Board of Works
Robert Clem Banasiewicz and Fletcher Coleman.
REQUEST - STREET LIGHT EATON DRIVE
A letter was received from Mr. Earl Winslow, requesting a street light on
Eaton Drive in the Garland Woods Addition East of Miami Street.
The Board referred the request to Gene Radecki for investigation and report.
APPLICATION - FIRE DEPARTMENT
-An application for the Fire Department from Larry Stanley Nitka was received
by theBoard of Works and Safety and ordered filed.
STREET OUTAGE REBORTS
Street outage reports were accepted and ordered placed on file.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 11:15A. M.
