HomeMy WebLinkAbout03/21/66 Board of Public Works MinutesMarch 21, 1966 The regular meeting of the Board of Works and Safety was opened at 10:00 A. M. with all members present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and placed on file. POLICE DEPARTMENT - APPOINTMENT OF WILLIAM FLORING The Chief of Police of the South Bend Police Department having heretofore recommended to the Board of Public Works and Safety that William Floring be appointed by the P olice Department and having had submitted a letter to the Board of Works today that the applicant having passed all necessary written and physical examinations and is a competent applicant, the Board now does appoint William T, Floring to the South Bend Police Department effective this date, March 21, 1966. PETITION - DVTROVED STREET LIGHTING - ALLEY FRCV CHESTNUT TO CHERRY A petition to improve street lighting in an alley from Chestnut to Cherry St. from Napier to Jefferson signed by several residents in that vicinity was referred to the Electrical Department for investigation. Mr. Radecki will contact Mr. Walter Szymkowiak on this petition. APPLICATION - POLICE AUXILIARY SCHOOL PATROL The application of Lorene Dixon of 2515 Roger Street to be an auxiliary police woman was submitted by the Police Department, by Chief Hampton. She will be a police woman at Kaley School at Olive and Longley. The application was approved by the Board and placed on file. APPLICATION - SPECIAL POLICE OFFICERS The application of Herbert Hajicek of 1525 No. Brookfield St. to serve as a,special police officer by the A. D. T. was approved by the Board. The Special Police Bond was filed in the office of the Board on March 21. The application of William Krill of 3213 Ardmore Trail to serve as a special Police Officer at Bonnie Doonts, o'Brien DX and Dick's Service Station was approved by the Board, but will be held up for filing until a bond is received. POLICE DEPARTMENT - MONTHLY REPORT The monthly report of the Police Department from Chief Hampton was approved and put on file. APPLICATION• POLICE DEPARTMENT The application for the police department from James Frank Andrysiak was approved by the Board and ordered to be placed on file. An application for the Police Department from David John Hatala was approved and ordered to be placed on file. ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT - IMPROVEMENT OF STREET LIGHTING - CALVERT ST The Electrical Department recommends the improvement of street lighting of Calvert Street between Rush St. and High St. Install 7 6,000L OH lights @ 3.65 per mo. $ 25.55 Install 1 4,000L OH lights @ 3.15 per mo. 3.15 25.70 Remove 13 1,000L UG lights @ 2.00 Per.Mo. 26.00 26.00 Additional billing per month 2.70 STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS The street light outage reports were approved and ordered to be put on file.
