All members were present. Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers OPENING BIDS:- FIRE DEPARTMENT ( AERIAL LADDER ) The time now being after 10:00 A.M. it was so announced and sealed bids for one 100 foot aerial ladder for the Fire Department were opened and read aloud. Proofs of Publication from the South Bend Tribune with affidavit signed by Robert DeLong and the Tri-County News with affidavit signed by Alfred W. Snyder, II were found sufficient. POLICE DEPARTMENT: RETIREMENT ( I. GLOYESKI ) Officer I. Gloyeski, having this date submitted his request for retirement from the South Bend Police Department after completing 20 years of service on said Department, and requesting terminal leave on this date, same is hereby approved, and terminal leave effective January 24, 1966. POLICE DEPARTMENT: ATTEND LAW ENFORCEMENT SCHOOL - SGTS. MCMICHAEL & MCDONALD ) At the recommendation of Police Chief Hampton, the Board approved sending Police Sergeants Harold McMichael and Kenneth McDonald, presently assigned to the Traffic Division of the Police Department to Traffic Law Enforcement School from March 7 through March 25, 1966 at Northwestern University. The totel cost will be $471.15 per man. k APPLICATION: POLICE AUXILIARY SCHOOL PATROL An application from Mrs. Jean Marcelia Diedrich for the Police Auxiliary School Patrol was accepted and ordered placed on file. ELECTRICAL & HEATING INSPECTION: ATTEND CONVENTION Permission was granted to Lee H. Klingebiel, Electrical Inspector, to attend the International Association of Electrical Inspectors Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana on February 2, 3 and 4th, 1966. Mr. Klingebiel advised the Board that there are funds in the budget for this Convention. PETITION: STREET LIGHT ( COUNCILMAN GEIB� A Petition signed by Councilman Richard G. Geband two other residents on Rainbow Drive requested the installation of a street light on Rainbow Dk.; from Viking Street across from 3827 Rainbow Drive. The Petition was referred to the Electrical Department for investigation and recommendation. REQUEST: STREET LIGHT H.W. GOODHEW ) A letter requesting the installation of street lighting in the 100 block U of Franklin Place from members of the Indiana Club was submitted to the C> Board by Mr. Howard R. Goodhew. Mr. Goodhew advised the Board that the Indiana Club has recently acquired a parking lot in this block which they plan to illuminate, in rear of lot. However, since street lighting is non-existent at present between the loam and the corner of Franklin and Jefferson Blvd., the members believe that additional lighting should be considered because of the many evening functions held at the Club by members and as a community facility. The request was referred to the Electrical Department for investigation and recommendation. STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file. POLICE DEPARTMENT: ANNUAL REPORT An Annual Report for the year 1965 from the Police Department was accepted and ordered placed on file. HEARINGS: SUB -STANDARD DIVISION With reference to property located at 810-812 E. Colfax, formerly owned by Harry Polis, Mr. Liszewski advised the Board that he had received a letter from Whitcome & Keller informed him that these two houses had been sold and the new owner intends to complete the repairs. Both houses will be completed by the summer of 1966. Further action by the Board held in abeyance under the above circumstances. With reference to property located at 2425 W. Bertrand Street, owned by Mrs. Theresa Aldridge, Mr. Liszewski advised the Board that repair orders have been issued in October, 1965 and no repairs have been made. The house is presently occupied. Following the recommendation of Mr. Liszewski, the Board ruled that the property be posted as sub -standard until the owner completes the repairs. 1 Ll 1 I 1 E With reference to property located at 712 Oak Street, owned by Henry Keultjes, it was reported by Mr. Keultjes that the Indiana & Michigan Electric Company would not turn on electricity if house was posted as sub -standard. He requested a continuance in order to complete the repairs. The Board granted a 60 day continuance so that the repairs could be accomplished. The Board further ordered that the house not be posted at this time. There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 10:35 A.M.
