James of the last regular approved for payment. A. Bickel and meeting were held on Monday, January Lloyd S. Taylor were read and approved. OPENING BIDS: MOTOR EQUIPMENT - 1966 Bids for motor equipment (cars and trucks ): for all departments of the City of South Bend were opened on this date and are tabulated in the Minutes of the Board of Public Works & Safety, Record No. 22. ELECTRICAL DEPARThENT: SURVEY - FELLOWS STREET LIGHTING Following a survey of this area, Eugene Radecki, Electrical Department Superintendent, submitted a recommendation for improvement of street lighting on Fellows Street from Ewing Avenue to Donmoyer Avenue. After due examination, the Board approved the recommended changes, as follows : Remove Install Location 4,000 lumen 21,000 Ewing & Fellows - School crossing V busy traffic, fire box. 1,000 lumen 4,000 Altgeld & Fellows 1,000 lumen .4 000 Victoria & Fellows 1,000i:.lumen 4,000 Fairview & Fellows 1,000 lumen 61000 Irvington & Fellows 1,000 lumen 4,000 Eckman & Fellows 4,000 lumen 6,000 Donmoyer & Fellows - School crossing busy traffic, fire box. ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT: REQUEST - I & M ELECTRIC CO ( NWMR POLES ) Following a recommendation from Eugene Radecki, Electrical. Department Superintendent, that the Indiana & Michigan Electric Company be requested to resume the practice of numbering all steel poles having street lights on them, the Board approved this suggestion. This practice of numbering the poles will assist the various departments in replacement of lights by pinpointing the location of the poles. STREET LIGHT PETITION A Petition signed by residents in the area of Poland Street requesting the installation of a street light on West Poland Street between Olive and Meade Streets was submitted to the Board, examined and referred to the Electrical Department for investigation and recommendation. STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file. TRAFFIC ENGINEER: TRAFFIC SIGN INSTALLATIONS The following traffic sign installations were approved by the Board: 2 - One Hour signs to limit parking at 714 N. Brookfield Install 2 1130 Minute Parking" and "No Parking" signs on the south side of Jefferson, east of Hill Street. BIGHTS & MEASURES - REPORT A Report for the month of December, 1965, from the Department of Weights & Measures was accepted and ordered placed on file. WEIGHTS & MEASURES: ATTEND SCHOOL Permissi an was granted to Bert Cichowicz, City Sealer, to attend the annual meeting of a Technical Training School in Indianapolis on January 19, 20 and 21, 1966. The Board was advised that there are sufficient funds in the budget for this meeting.- I SPECIAL POLICE CCWISSIONS The following Special Police Commissions were approved and ordered placed on file: Robert Gammage, Commissinn and Continuation Certificate; Frank Skibinski, Torrington Company, Stanley V. Grayzck, Torrington," Frank Sochocki, Jr., Torrington, Raymond H. Dunham, Torrington.and Richard Zmyslo, Torrington. All Torrington employees as Special Police are covered by a Blanket Bond. POLICE DEPARTMENT: APPLICATION' An application for the Police Department from Richard Dean Johnson was accepted and ordered placed on file...
