HomeMy WebLinkAbout12/06/65 Board of Public Works MinutesDecember 6, 1965 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, December 6, 1965 at 10:00 A.M. Messrs. Robert J. DuComb and Lloyd S. Taylor were present. Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. EXECUTION OF CONTRACT: BOARD OF AVIATION COMMISSIONERS ( FIRE PROTECTION FOR 1966 ) The Board executed a contract for the year 1966 for fire protection at the St. Joseph County Airport. The secretary was directed to forward.all copies to Mr. G. Burt Ford, attorney at law, with instructions that all copies be executed by the Board of Aviation Commissioners prior to the first of 1966 and to return two executed copies to the Office of the Board for filing and for records. REQUEST: M&O- E PARKING METER ( GATES CHEVROLET ) At the request of Gates Chevrolet Corporation, the Board approved the removal of parking meter No. 1.1 in the 300 block of South Franklin Street. This is necessitated because of the corporation's expansion program and the fact that this meter is now blocking a drive leading to the customer parking lot. ENGINEERING DEPARU ENT: TRAFFIC ENGINEER ( JEFFERSON BLVD, PARKING ) At the recommendation of Clem Hazinski, Traffic Director and of Lloyd S. Taylor, City Engineer, the Board approved the prohibition of parking on the south side of East Jefferson from Hill S reet to St. Louis Boulevard. This is presently a 2 hour limit zonel TRAFFIC ENGINEER: INSTALLATIONS The Board approved the following installations: No Parking Signs on the north side of Mishawaka Avenue from a point east of 20th Street to Greenlawn. PETITION: STREET LIGHT A Petition from residents of Western Avenue and Pine Street for the installation of a street light on Pine Street at an alley intersection between Western and Napier was submitted to the Board, examined and referred to the Electrical Department for investigation and recommen- dation. STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS Street.Light Outage.Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file. BUILDING DEPARTMENT REPORT A Report from the Building Department for the month of November, 1965 was accepted and ordered placed on file. POLICE AUXILIARY SCHOOL PATROL APPLICATIONS The following applications.for the Police Auxiliary School Patrol were accepted and ordered placed on file: Mrs. Aquina Hillary VanHolsheke and Mrs. Lillian Beatrice Leonard. 130 There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 10:30 A.M.
