HomeMy WebLinkAbout08/02/65 Board of Public Works MinutesAugust 2, 1965 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, August 21. 1965 at 10:00 A.M. Messrs. Robert J. DuComb and Lloyd S. Taylor were present. Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. PERMISSION TO ADVERTISE: POLICE DEPARTMENT ( SEDAN ) Permission was granted -to the Police Department to advertise for one new 1966 four -door sedan for the use of the Police Department. Sealed bids will be opened at 10:00 A.M. in the Office.of the Board on August 16, 1965. BUILDING DEPARTMENT ( ATTEND MEETING ) Permission was granted to the following membe3x;of the Building Department to attend the Annual Meeting of the Indiana Inspectors Association at Indianapolis, Indiana on August 8 through 11, 1965: Harry Leslie Morgan Peck Jack Lane Anthony Raess Joseph Kovach Forrest R. West Elizabeth Burch SUB -STANDARD DIVISION Comes now Richard Liszewski, of the Sub -Standard Division of the Building Department, and requests permission to post a dwelling at 620 E. Pennsylvania Avenue, owned by Dale Cornish, as sub -standard. Permission granted. With reference to property located at 521 Liston Street, owned by Victor and Bessie DeFreese, Mr. Liszewski informed the Board that Mr. Kopec, attorney, said this property will be demolished by the end of 30 to 60 days and requested a continuance. Permission granted for a 60 day continuance. Mr. Liszewski informed the Board that property located at 408 E. Paris Street, owned by Virgil Turner is now vacant and open and a hazard and requested permission to post property as sub -standard. Permission granted. With reference to property located at 524 Carroll Street, which is an Estate, Mr. Liszewski advised the Board that Mr. Siegfried Benson, a party of interest in the Eittate, had informed him that he would like to see building demolished. Mr. Liszewski requested permission to advertise for bids for demolition. Permission granted. REMOVE PARKING METER Following the recommendation of Clem Hazinski, Traffic Director, the Board approved the removal of one 12 minute meter in front of f,02 S. St. Joseph Street and a new meter head be installed for two hour parking at this point. STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file. 1 1 PETITIONS:_ STREET LIGHTS The following Petitions for the installation of street lights were submitted to the Board, and referred to the Electrical Department for investigation and recommendation: 1. N. Notre Dame Avenue from Washington to Colfax Avenue submitted by residents of N. Notre Dame Avenue and also by Councilman E. Palmer. 2. Street light -tat 119 N. Notre Dame Avenue on post at alley,submitted by residents of Notre Dame Avenue, through Councilman John Hunter, Jr., and James R. DuComb. 3. Light on pole behind lot of 1822 S. Pulaski between DuBai1 and Calvert Street. There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 11:30 A.M. Att" t: Richard J.ck, Clerk
