HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/26/65 Board of Public Works MinutesM�,� � (4, July 26, 1965 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, July 26, 1965 at 10:00 A.M. Messrs. Robert J. DuComb and Lloyd S. Taylor were present. Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. ELECTRICAL I)EPARnENT ( STREET LIGM PETITIONS ) The following Petitions for the installation of street lights were referred to the Electrical Department for investigation and recommendation; 1. Susex Drive from Canterbury to Grove by installation of 2 lights. 2. Garden Lane from Sample Street to Meadow Lane by installation of 1 Light., 3. Install 1 light at 813 S.Kosciusko Street. 4. Installl 1 light in 2600 block of West Grace Street between Meade and Kaley Streets. STREET LIGHT.' OUTAGE REPORTS Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file. SUB -STANDARD DIVISION: OPEN BIDS DEMOLITION Corms now Richard Liszewski, Supervisor of the Sub -Standard Division of the Building Department, and advises the Board that Mr. Wilfred Crane was present to remonstrate against demolition of property located at 201-2 E. Keasey Street which had been advertised for demolition. Mr. Crane advised the Board that he had purchased this property but did not have clear title as of this date due to a lien on the property. Clear title would be forthcoming very soon, after which he was prepared to bring property up to standard. He requested a continuance, which was approved. Case continued until September 13, 1965. BID_ FOR DEMOLITION The following bid for demolition of property located at 229 E. Paris Street, owned by C. Entzien was opened and read aloud; A & J Demolition Co. 318 O'Brien Street. Retain salvage $550.00 South Bend, Indiana Water shut-off 25.00 $575.00 Stack salvage $565.00 Non -Collusion Affidavit properly signed and bid in order and since this is the only bid and appears to be a fair bid, it was awarded to A & J. Demolition Company. SUB -STANDARD DIVISION ( PAST PROPERTY ) Mr. Richard Liszewski, Sub -Standard Division, advised the Board that property located at 601-6012 E. Pennsylvania Avenue was in very poor condition. Extensive repair orders had been ignored by owner, Mr. W. Miltenberger. Mr. Liszewski requested permission to post buildings for-.demo1mtion..and advertise for bids. Request granted. EXECUTION OF LEASE: POLICE PISTOL RANGE The Board executed,_a Lease for use as a Pistol Range for the Police Department for property located on -Indiana State Route #23,_North Liborty Road for one year, retroactive to January 1; 1965, at an annual rental of $1280o.00,-payable not later than August 1, 1965. STATISTICAL REPORT: POLICE DEPARTMENT A Statistical Report from the Police'Department covering the month of June, 1965 was accepted by -the Board and ordered placed on file. There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 11:10 A.M.
