HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/12/65 Board of Public Works Minutes77 July 12, 1965 A regular meting of the,Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, July 12, 1965 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. BUIIDING NT - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION ( HEARINGS ) Comes now Richard Liszewski, Director of the Sub -Standard Division of the Building Department, and requests permission to advertise for bids for demolition for property owned by Geraldine Entzian, located at 229 E. Paris Street. Permission granted. With reference to property owned by Ross Weldy and located at 1911 S. Clyde Street, Mr. Liszewski advised the Board that Mr. Weldy had not complied with repair orders but had requested an additional extension of 30 days to complete repairs. He has already had a 90 day extension. However, his latest extension request is based on the fact that he was in the Elkhart Palm Sunday storm and did not U have the available funds to make the repairs on this South Bend V property. Under these circumstances, the Board granted an additional. 30 day extension. With reference to property located at 830 S. Rush Street, Mr. Liszewski reported to the Board that the owner had requested an additional. 14 days in which to get work started on this property. Extension of two weeks granted. Mr. Liszewski reported to the Board that repair orders issued on property located at 201- E.�_Keasey, owned by George Blair, had been ignored and requested permission to order demolition. Permission granted. RESOLUTION: IND= STATE HIGHWAY CCiMSSION ( RESTRICTING PARKING ON SR 2 An executed copy of a Resolution restricting parking on SR 23 in the City of South Bend, adopted the 6th day of July, 1965, was accepted by the Board and ordered placed on file. TRAFFIC ENGINEER ( SIGNS ) The Board approved the installation of the following traffic signs: 2 1130 Minute Time Limit" signs on the east side of Notre Dame Avenue south of Madison. "No Parking This Side of Street" on north side of Magyar Court - 1900 block. REQUEST: POLICE DEPARTMENT ( SAFETY SIGNS ) Captain Bussert of the Police Department, requested permission to erect Safety signs at various locations at the City limits in order to promote safe driving in the City of South Bend. Permission granted. PARKING METERS ( LICENSE BUREAU ) Captain Bussert advised the Board that when the License Bureau was moved to the new location on the corner of Main and Colfax Avenue, the parking meters had not been marked "Reserved for Training Tests". He requested that these meters be marked and the request was granted, STREET LIGHT INSTALLATIONS Following the recommendation of Eugene Radecki, Superintendent of the Electrical Department; the following installations were approved: 1 - 4000 lumen street light installed at Huntly Court at the circle between 4805 and 4811. 1 - 4000 lumen street light at the southeast corner'of 915 N. Notre Dame Avenue. 1 - 4000-lumen street light on existing pole, No. J259-389 at alley at Notre Dame Avenue and Jefferson. SPECIAL PONCE ( CONTINUATION CERTIFICATE A Continuation Certificate for Special Police Bond for Robert L. Kingsafer was approved and ordered placed on file. APPLICATIONS ( POLICE DEPARTMENT ) The following applications for the Police Department were accepted and'ordered placed on file: Guy Franklin Chapman, Jr., and "Jon Kevin Hanley. BUILDING DEPARTMENT ( MONTHLY REPORT ) A Report fox the month of June, 1965 from the Building Department was accepted and ordered placed on file. STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file. There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 11:20 A.M. t :.
