A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday,
June 28, 1965 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the
last regular meeting were read and approved. No vouchers were approved
for payment.
BUILDING DEPARTMENT: SUB -STANDARD DIVISION ( OPEN BIDS ) DEMOLITION
Comes now Richard Liszewski with sealed bids for demolition of the
following property
1107 High Street, owned by Alex and Helen Niedbal.ski.
The following bids were opened and examined by the Board and found to
be properly executed:

It appearing that the bid of Chas. Clough is the lowest and best bid,
it was awarded to Chas. Clough in accordance with the above figures.
With reference to property owned by Mrs. C. Wezesien, Located at 1013-1015
Western Avenue, Mr. Liszewski advised the Board that no repairs had been
made as ordered and requested permission to advertise for bids for
demolition.
Permission granted.
Mr. Liezewski..asked,:: and was granted permission to post property at 910
S. Franklin as sub -standard. This property is owned by Steve Atlagich.
At the recommendation of Mr. Liszewski, the Board granted an extension
of 60 days in order to make repairs on property located at 1216 King Street.
RE: ESTHER HCUE BUILDERS - CQOIAINT
A letter from Mr. Irvin J. Manuszak of 1322 Chimes Blvd., with reference
to a complaint received previously concerning the debris on this property,
was referred to the Board, examined and ordered placed on file.
TRAFFIC DIRECTOR: TRAFFIC SIGNS ( EDISON & IVY ROADS )
As the result of a study of the 4-way stop at Edison and Ivy Roads by
Clem Hazinski and also the St. Joseph County Engineer, it was the opinion
of Clem Hazinski that this crossing does not need this installation
and it was his recommendation that the two stop signs that are within
the City Limits be changed and the sign at the southwest corner be
removed and the sign at the southeast corner be changed to a standard
sign. Warning sign will be installed on Ivy at its approaches to Edison:
"Cross Traffic does not stop.'!

The Board approved the proposed changes as recommended by Mr. Hazinski.
TRAFFIC DIRECTOR: ARNOLD STREET PARKING
Due to congestion and accident experience in the 700 and 800 blocks of
South Arnold Street a study was made of this area and, as a result, Mr.
Hazinski recommended that parking be prohibited on the east side of
Arnold Street between Ford and Sample Street.
The Board approved this parking change
TRAFFIC DIRECTOR: REMOVAL OF PARKING METER - MICHIGAN & WASHINGTON)
Due to the proposed installation of a privately operated off-street
parking facility to be installed at the southeast corner of Michigan
and Washington, the site of demolished Max Adler Building, a permit
for a curb cut has 'been granted for the Michigan Street side.
In order to provide accesss, it was the recommendation that the lst
parking meter on the east side of Michigan Street just south of
Washington be removed.

REQUEST: FIRE DEPARTMENT ASSISTANCE ( KIWANIS NEWSPAPER SALE )
A request from Dr. Arthur R. Teves, Chairman of the South Bond Kiwanis
Club annual newspaper sale, was submitted to the_ Board. Dr. Texes
requested.the assistance of the South Bend Fire Department to distribute
the newspapers as in past years.
The date of the sale has been set for.September 11, 1965.
Permission granted and the secretary of the Board directed to notify
the Fire Chief and request his assistance.
SPECIAL POLICE CUMISSIONS
The following Special Police.Commissions were approved, pending receipt
of bond: William A. Cave, employed by Commercial Services and Mozelle
Toth, employed by Pinkerton and assigned to Robertson's Department
Store.
APPLICATION: POLICE DEPARTMENT
An application from Philip Wayne Stradley for the Police Department was
accepted and ordered placed on file..
STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPCRTS
Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting
was adjourned at 11:25 A.M.
