HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/26/65 Board of Public Works Special Meeting MinutesMay 26, 1965 A special meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Wednesday, May 26, 1965 at 3:15 P.M. Messrs. James A. Bickel and Lloyd S. Taylor were present. The following business was transacted: RESOLUTION OF BOARD OF -PUBLIC UORKS & SAFETY OF M CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA WHEREAS, State Route #23 has been rerouted in the City of South Bend, and WHEREAS, Average Daily Traffic volume has increased and will continue to increase, and WHEREAS, Certain types of accidents as well as congestion will result unless capacity is increased NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works & Safety that parking be prohibited on S.R. #23 at the following locations: 1. Both sides of South Bend Avenue (SR 23) from Eddy Street to Edison Road. 2. The west side of the 100 block South Eddy (SR 23) from a point 130 feet north of Jefferson to the first alley north. 3. North side of East Sample (SR 23) from Carroll to Fellows. 4. South side of East Sample (SR 23) from the west property line of 310"�to Fellows Street. 5. The north side of the 300 to 700 block West Sample (SR 23) from Lafayette to Chapin. 6. The northwesterly side of Prairie (SR 23) from Oliver to Grant Streets. 7. Both sides of Prairie (SR 23) from Grant to Olive. ROBERT J. DUCaO LLOYD S. TAYLOR JAMES A. BICKEL Date: May 24, 1965 The above Resolution was approved following complete studies of the area by Clem Hazinski, Traffic Director and was executed by the Board on the 24th day of May, 1965. The Clerk of the Board was directed to send a copy of said Resolution to Fred Beroske, LaPorte District Engineer, State Highway Commission. APPROVAL: INDIANA A MICHIGAN ELECTRIC CWPANY ( TWYCKENHAM DRIVE BR„IDGE LIGHTING The Board approved a proposal of Indiana & Michigan Electric Company for the installation of 4 - 21,000 lumen mercury vapor luminaires on 301 steel poles with underground construction on the Twyckenham Drive bridge and remove the existing 7 - 2,500 lumen incandescent fixtures which are presently installed on low concrete posts. It is I & M's under standing that the remaining--7-posts which have no fixtures will also be removed. The annual cost to the Board of Public Warrks & Safety for the installation of the 4 mercury vapor fixtures, based on the existing contract price of $9.50 each per month will be $456.00 This '.annual cost will be reduced by the removal of 7 - 2,500 lumen incandescent fixtures @ $2.35 each per month or $197.4b Net Annual Increase $258.60 There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 3:45 P.M.
