A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday,
April 26, 1965 at 10:00 A.I+i. All members were present. Minutes of
the last regular meeting were read and approved. No vouchers were
approved for payment.
OPEN BIDS: BUILDING DEPARUIENT TWO SEDANS
The time now being after 10:00 A.1.1. it was so announced and sealed bids
for two Tsro-Door Sedans for the Building Department were opened and
read aloud. Proofs of Publication: from the South Bend Tribune with
affidavit signed by Robert DeLong and the Tri-County Nees with
affidavit signed by Alfred W. Snyder, II were found sufficient.

Permission was granted to the following to attend a meeting of the
Aeronautics Commission of Indiana in Indianapolis, Thursday, April
29, 1965:
Fire Chief McHenry, Lieutenant William Schmidt, Firemen Joe
Jelinski and Joseph Pajakowski.
All expenses will be paid for by Local #362, South Bend Firemenis Association.
APPLICATIONS: FIRE DEPARTtNENT
The follojring applications for the Fire Department were accepted and
ordered placed on file: Douglas Adams and Willie Levard Newsome.
TRAFFIC ENGINEER: INSTALLATIONS
Following the recommendation of the Traffic Engineer, the following
insta?lations were approved:
Install two "30 Minute Time Limit" (6 A.IVI. - 6 P.M.) signs inside the
line at 639 Lincoln Way East. (Ron's Auto Sales)
Install STOP signs on Golden Avenue at Woodward NE & SW Corners.
Remove the One Hour -Two Hour signs & Posts from 700 S. Lafayette.
Install one Two Hour Parking Signs at 2805 and 2809 W. Sample Street.
PETITION; PARKING LIMIT
A Petition from residents of the 1200 block of Vieste-rm Avenue, requesting
a Two -Hour Parking Limit on week days from S :00 A.1d. to 6:00 P .1,1. on
the north side of the 1200 block of Western Avenue was submitted to
the Board, examined and referred to the Traffic Engineer for investiga-
tion and recommendation.

BUILDING DEPARTNIENT: SUB -STANDARD DIVISION ( IJEARINGS)
Mr. Ale.x Niedbalski, 6vmer of property located at 625 E. Keasey Street,
appeared before the Board as directed to show cause ilfhy this property
had -not been repaired as ordered.
This structure is in sub -standard condition and is presently occupied.
Mx. Richard Liszewski, Director of the Sub -Standard Division, advised
the Board that this property is in such bad condition that it should
be posted and demolished.
Mr. Niedbalski informed the Board that he was unable financially to
make the necessary repairs or to pay for demolishing same.
After hearing M% Niedbalski, the Board ruled that the property be
demolished by the City and a lien put on the property. M-r. Liszewski
was directed to notify the present tenant of such intention and to
proceed with demolition orders.
With reference to property located at 1002 N. Eddy Street., owned by
Eddy Lee Byrd, Mr. Liszewski advised the Board that the ov.,,ner had
been directed to appear before the Board on this date -to show cause
why subject property had not been repaired as ordered. -
k1r. Liszewski further advised the Board that the owner had contacted
him prior to the hearing and advised that he had made arrangements
for financing the repairs and requested a continuance of 60 days at
the ,expiration of this continuance brio -thirds of the repairs will have
been completed.
Upon the reconniendation of lMr. Liszewski., the Board agreed to such a
continuance.
SPECIAL POLICE BOND
The Board approved a Special Police Bond for Leon L. Reuhland and
ordered same placed on file. The Commission had been approved
previously.
VvEiglas &_ LEASURES MONTHLY REPORT
A report for the month of 11arch, 1965 from the Department of Weights
& ?Measures was submitted to the Board, accepted and ordered placed on
file.
STREET LIGHT -OUTAGE REPORTS
Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file.
There being no further business to come before -the Board, the -meeting
was adjourned at 11:35 A.TA.
