A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday,
March 29, 1965 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the
last regular meeting were.read and approved. Vouchers were approved
and ordered paid to the various suppliers.
AWARDING BID; FIRE AND POLICE DEPARTMENTS UNIFORflS AND- Q2
E UIP1,4ENT FIRE DEPT. CONTRACT NO -65 POLICE 1, DEPT CONTRACT NO 0-6
After due examination of the bid submitted by Gerber Manufacturing
Company, the only bidder for Uniforms and Uniform Equipment for the
Fire and Police Departments, the Chief of Police and the Fire Chief having
reported to the Board that prices submitted were in order and satisfactory,
it was the decision of the Board to award the bid as follows:

Fire Department Uniforms and Uniform Equipment to $34,650.00 or less.
Police Department Uniforms and Uniform Equipment to $28,000.00 or less.

C14 BUILDING DEPARTD.ENT - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION I1EARINGS
Ca0 Comes now Mr. Richard Lisewski, Supervisor of the Sub -Standard Division,
to report to the Board that property located at 214 E. Ohio Street,
U owned by 1,'[rs. Blanche Linsenmier, is sub -standard and that repair
orders have not been complied with.
Mrs. Linsenmier was represented by her attorney iiiho advised the Board
that Mrs. Linsenmier is a woman of advanced years and did not seem to
be aware of what the repair orders were.
Mr. Liszewski requested permission to post the building which is now
vacant as sub -standard and that it remain vacant until repairs had been
made.
This arrangement was agreeable to the attorney representing Mfrs. Linsenmier
and the Board granted permission to take the steps requested by A:Zr.

Moir. Ross Weldy, owner of property located at 1911 Clyde Street, appeared
before the Board as requested by the Sub -Standard Division, to show
cause why repairs had not been made, as ordered.
Mr. Weldy requested a continuance of 90 days in order to complete repairs
on subject property.
Following the recommendation of Mr. Liszewski that this was a reasonable
request, this case was continued for a period of 90 days.
SUB -STANDARD DIVISION OPEN BIDS ( DED.40LITION )
MVIr. Liszewski submitted sealed bids to the Board for demolition of
property located at 1321 Elliott Street.
The following bids were received:

The bid was awarded to Chas. Clough.
-Mir. Liszewski submitted sealed bid for demolition of property located
at 190`7 S. Lafayette Boulevard.
The following bid was the only '.:bid,- ' cda zr�d .and :teas rejected. Non -

APPROVAL: PEJITIONS FOR STREET LIGHTS
Following the recommendation of Eugene Radecki, Electrical Department
Superintendent, the following street light installations were approved:
1. 1 - 4000 lumen light at 717 E. 1,11enger Street & Hoffman Court,
one-half block off High Street.
2. 1 - 4000 lumen light at 1222 Marietta Street, one-half block
north of Pennsylvania.
STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS
Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file.
INSTALLATIONS; TRAFFIC SIGNS
Following the recommendation of Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, the
following installations were approved:
3 - No Parking This Side signs & Posts an west side of 400 S.
F'ellows.
1 - Across from 412
2 - Halfway between #1 and 1J1'3
3 - Across from 432 at end of Yellow Zane.
RE; TRAFFIC LIGHTS �MISHAWAKA & LOGAN -)
A letter from C. Duev-raine Hawblitzel, Vocational Rehabilitation
Division, Department of Public Instruction, State of Indiana,was
submitted to the Board.
Ib% Haviblitzel suggested that the traffic lights at the intersection
of Tdishawakza Avenue and Logan Street be turned 45 degrees tovaxd the
north, so that motorists would have 'a direct view of the color condition
of the light vihen the sun is in the west so that they may determine the
color of the lights at a safe distance.
Mx. Ha-viblitzel claimed that at the present time, it is difficult to
determine the color of the lights.
The letter was referred to the Engineering Department, Traffic Director,
for investigation_ and report.

A Special Police Bond for Leroy Robert GreenayralU, employed as a special
police by Comercial Services, Inc. was approved and ordered placed on
file. Special Police Commission Was formerly approved by the Board.

POLICE ,DhrPARQhIENT: APPLICATION
An application for the Police Department from Larry Eugene Hill was
accepted and ordered placed on file.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting
was adjourned at 10:35 A.M.
