February 23, 1965
A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Tuesday,
February 23, 1965 at 10:00 A.M. Messrs Robert J. DuComb and Lloyd S.
Taylor were present. Minutes of the last regular meeting and the
special meetings were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and
ordered paid to the various suppliers.
OPENING BIDS• FIRE DEPARTMENT CARS 4 TRUCK - STATION WAGON
The time now being after 10:00 A.M. it was so announced and sealed bids
for cars, truck and station wagon were opened and read aloud. Proofs
of Publication from the South Bend Tribune with affidavit signed -by
Robert DeLong and the Tri-County News with affidavit signed by Alfred W.
Snyder, II were found sufficient.

POLICE DEPARMvIENT
Copy of Transcript of Proceedings in the Matter or Edward J. Nayrrocki
of the South Bend Police Department at the time of the Hearing on
alleged violations of the Rules and Regulations of the Police Department
an -February 16, 1965 was filed with the Board by Miss Leona White,
shorthand reporter on February 18, 1965.
Copy of said Transcript was submitted to the Board on February 23, 1965,
and ordered placed on file in the Office of the Board of Public Works
Safety.
The Board of Public Safety will convene at a special meeting on March 1,
1965 at 2:00 P.M. to hear arguments with reference to Mr. Nawrocki's case,
U pursuant to request of the defense
The secretary of the Board was directed to send letters, advising of
this meeting to the following:

BUILDING DEPARTMENT: ATTEND CONVENTION M. PECK
At the request of Forrest R. ;lest, Building Commissioner, permission
was granted to Morgan Peck, the Department's Sign Inspector, to attend
the National Electric Sign Association Convention in St. Louis, Miccouri
from March 7 to March 9, 1965.
REQUEST FOR STREET LIGHT - ST. VINCENT STREET
A request from Pdrs. Jacob Seeger of 718 E. St. Vincent Street, for a
street light at the alley of the 700 block of E. St Vincent Street
was submitted to the Board and referred to the Electrical Department
for investigation and recommendation.
TRAFFIC ENGINEER: TRAFFIC SIGN INSTALLATIONS
FolloNlri.ng the recommendation of the Traffic Engineer, the following
installations were approved:
3 11 No Parking Passenger Loading Zone" signs on E. side of Hill Street
north of Colfax attached 117 a.m. - 9 a.m., 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., 2 p.m. -
4 p.m. (Mon. ThLm:.:Fri.''- plates below.

A Report from the Police Department for the month of January, 1965 was
accepted by the Board and ordered placed on file.
POLICE DEPAR'iNENT: APPLICATION
An application for the Police Department from Donald Dean VJygaat was
accepted and ordered placed on file.

Special Police Commission for Rod McQueen, employed by Meyers Detective
Agency was approved, pending receipt of Special Police Bond.
