The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and approved. DS, _z. -�"AY, RADIOS FOR VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS (General Electric) Bids having been received January 26, 1970, and referred to the City Engiineer and the Radio Department for review and recommendation, upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried the bid of General Electric for two-way radios was accepted as recommended by the City Engineer and the Radio Depart- ment and the contract is awarded to General Electric. FIRE DEPARTMENT RETIREA.TNT - Julius Takacs Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the request for retirement from the South Bend Fire Department, of Julius Takacs, effective January 30, 1970, having completed Twenty years and three months of service. SUB -STANDARD BUILDING DEPARTIVIENT DEMOLITION BIAS This being the date set, bids were opened for demolition of the following properties. Non collusion affidavits ,rrere found to be proper. Bids Were: 405 E , T1lengyer Bryant Excavating Company $330.00 O'Neal Trucking Company 300.00 Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the contract for demolition of the structure at 405 E. Washington Avenue was awarded to O'Neal Trucking Company on their low bid of $218.00 1310 I, Ford hTid-Clest Demolition Corp. $223. 00 O'Neal Trucking Company 219.00 Bryant Excavating Company 330.00 Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the contract for demolition of the structure at 1310 V1. Ford was awarded to O'Neal Truck- ing Company on their low bid of $219.00 111 N. Jackson was awarded to O'Neal Trucking Company on their low bid of $429.00. 2/3/70 2266 E. ,Elder A & J Demolition $750.00 Bryant Excavating Company 610.00 Mid -West Demolition Corp,. 648.00 O'Neal Trucking Company 500.00 Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried the contract for de- molition of the structure at 236 E. Elder was awarded to O'Neal Trucking Company on their lovra bid of $500.00. REQUEST OF MID -WEST TURNKEY BUILDERS INC TO PARK TRAILER Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried and upon the recom- mendation of Building Commissioner West, the request of Mid -West Turnkey Builders, Inc. to park a trailer temporarily for 12 months at the Northwest corner of Carlisle and Indiana Avenue in South. Bend, was approved by the Board. Mr. !Vest's office is to inform Mid-Vlest Turnkey of this approval by the Board. VACATION PETITION - MID -WEST TURNKEY BUILDERS INC - Philli a Street Petition to vacate Phillipa Street from North line of Indiana Avenue extending North 106 feet to an unused 10 foot alley as shown on the recorded Plat of South Bend Industrial Addition. This vacation is requested to obtain beneficial use of an unused street easement for residential construction. The petition was filed with the Board along with a check in the amount of $65.00. Upon motion made seconded and unanimously carried this petition was referred to the Area Plan Com- mission and the City Engineer for further study, review, and recommendation. ALLEY VACATION PETITION - MID-VIEST TURNFTY BUILDERS. INC. - Carlisle -Warren area Petition to vacate Part of 12 foot East-1,7est alley from Carlis� Street on the West to Marren Street on the East to permit adjacent owner to obtain bene- ficial use of the same for residential construction was filed with the Board along with a check in the amount of $65.00. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, this petition was referred to Area Plan Commission and City Engineer for further study, review and recommendation. APPLICATION - FIRE DEPARMENT The applications of: George G. Kalamaras 11aurice C. Stoffelen were filed with the Board for appointment to the Fire Department. These appli- cations were referred to the Personnel Director for further processing. APPLICATION - POLICE DEPARU.rENT The application of Delores ITfilliams for appointment to the Police Department was received and filed with the Board and ref e rred to the Personnel. Director for further processing. STREET LIGHT PETITION - E. Bowman and Columbia Court Area Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the recommendation of the Traffic Engineer was approved as follovis: 15 mid block lights (71000L RTV OH VIP) to be installed on Ewing, Fox, Donald, Bovman and Calvert OBJECTION TO STREET LIGHT - BARTER HEIGHTS - Frank Schmidt Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the objection of Frank Schmidt to a street light being installed in the area of his residence at 1117 Foster Street was referred to the Traffic Engineer for further investigation to determine what the other residents in the area desire in the way of lighting. It was further moved, seconded and carried that if the installation has not been made that it be held up pending the outcome of further investigation. ggI .................. PARKING VIOLATIONSAT 414 E. Broadwa Upon the recommendation of the Traffic Engineer and upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the installation of a "No Parking" sign was approved by the Board. The Clerk is instructed to notify the Police Department to enforce the regulation. STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS --lZ20 70 to 1 27 '70 Street light outage reports for the period January 20, 1970 to January 27, 1970, were ordered filed.
