Special meeting - November 3, 1969.
A special.meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety was held at 4:00 P.M.
on November 3, 1969, with all members present.
Also present were Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat and Firemen Gregory Frederick Conery
and Stephen Wm. Danielowicz, III.
The President of the Board, Lloyd S. Taylor, stated the purpose of the meeting
was to consider charges filed by Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat against Fireman
Gregory Fredrick Conery and Fireman Stephen Wm. Danielowicz, III, for violation
of Article IX, Sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Geberal Rules and Regulations of the
South Bend Fire Department of the City of South Bend. .
The charges against Mr. Danielowicz were read aloud in his presence, to which
charges Mr. Danielowicz pleaded guilty.
Mr. Danielowicz was then excused and Mr. Conery appeared before the Board.

�+ The Board then recessed at 4:20 P.M., to consider the charges and penalties. to
be administered.
-A The meeting reconvened at 5:00 P.M., with both defendants.present.
a Mr. Taylor stated it was the decision of the Board that both firemen (Gregory
Fredrick Conery and Stephen Wm. Danielowicz, III) should be suspended from the
Fire Department for a period of 60 days starting October 24, 1969; and that they
should report back for duty at the end of 60 days.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting adjourned at
5:12 P.M.
