1 3. <br />March 8, 1971. <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:32 <br />A.M. on March 8, 1971, with all members present. The minutes of the <br />previous meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />BIDS OPENED FOR STREET MATERIALS <br />This being the date set, bids were opened'for the following street materials: <br />Item #1 <br />- 7,500 <br />tons hot asphaltic concrete <br />Item #2 <br />- 14,000 <br />tons limestone or slag aggregate <br />Item #3 <br />- 500,000 <br />gallons emulsified asphalt <br />Item #4 <br />- 30,000 <br />gallons tack and prime coat <br />Item #5 <br />- 200,000 <br />gallons dust control oil <br />Item #6 <br />- 25,000 <br />tons various gravels and ice control sand <br />Item #7 <br />- 450 <br />tons street patching material <br />Item #8 <br />- 250 <br />cubic yards ready -mix concrete (Class A) <br />100 <br />cubic yards ready -mix concrete (Class B) <br />The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune <br />and the Tri County News on February 19 and February 26, 1971, which were <br />found to be sufficient. <br />Bitucote Products Co., 1824 Knox Avenue, St. Louis, Missouri. Non <br />collusion affidavit was found to be proper. The bid was accompanied <br />by a bid bond in the amount of $12,165.00. The bid was on Item #3 - <br />cationic quick setting emulsified asphalt, via truck net 30 days <br />@ $0.2433 per gallon. <br />Bituminous Materials Co. Inc., 417 Marycrest Building, South Bend,' <br />Indiana. Non collusion affidavit was found to be proper. The bid <br />was acompanied by a bid bond in the amount of $12,700.00. Bid as <br />follows: <br />Item #1 <br />- Base mixture and binder mixture <br />@ <br />5.40 <br />per <br />ton <br />Surface mixture, Type C and B <br />@ <br />6.25 <br />per <br />ton <br />Hot asphalt emulsion <br />@ <br />7.25 <br />per <br />ton <br />Item #3 <br />- Anionic <br />@ <br />14.26 <br />per <br />gal. <br />Cationic <br />@ <br />14.26 <br />per <br />gal. <br />Item #4 <br />- prime coat <br />@ <br />14.76 <br />per <br />gal. <br />Item #7 <br />- crushed limestone mixture <br />@ <br />7.95 <br />per <br />ton <br />crushed gravel <br />@ <br />7.45 <br />per <br />ton <br />Emulsified Asphalts, Inc., 4900 S. Mason Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. <br />Non collusion affidavit was found to be proper. Bid was accompanied by <br />a bid bond of 101/o of the bid. The bid was as follows: <br />Item #3 - Anionic <br />Cationic <br />@ 0.1599 <br />@ 0.1790 <br />Kuert Concrete, Inc., 3113 Lincolnway West, South Bend, Indiana, 46628. <br />Non collusion affidavit was found to be proper. Bid was accompanied by <br />a bid bond of 10% of the bid. The bid was as follows: <br />Item #8 - Ready -mix concrete, fob vendor's plant (Class A) @ 16.60 <br />(Class B) @ 14.95 <br />The Levy Company, P. 0. Box 298, Chesterton, Indiana. Non collusion <br />affidavit was found to be proper. The bid was accompanied by a bid bond <br />in the amount of 10% of the bid. The bid was as follows: <br />Item #2 - Type 2 and 3 slag mineral aggregate @ 3.55 per ton <br />
